Some good individual performances helped. Happy to win ... but it won't cut the mustard against good teams.

Out entry was crap but guess what broke 100 again

I wouldn't blame the actually entry too much. Watching live everytime we went forward the two key targets barely moved or went to the wrong spots. A lot of the blame must go to them.

A good smart forward will always draw the ball to the right spots.

Even a guy like Andy Ottens can do that... if he has half a braain and is willing to work hard and lead

Lucas did some good things last night. His run and carry I thought was very good. He will never be a crash and bash player. Not in his make up. Still can be hesitant in the heavy stuff but that does not mean he is scared. Confidence is growing. The more he feels like he belongs the better he will get.

We dominated the game in all facets. The last quarter was a blip on an otherwise perfect day for the Blues.

Didn't like seeing Walker go down with that horrible bend in his leg... great players you want to see play, and he's Adelaide's Fev.

McLean - Wow! Man of the match. That was a Greg Williams like performance. Silky disposal, was in everything, ran as hard as his slow legs could carry him. Took hits, gave hits, great vision and goal awareness. For a guy polarised a year ago, McLean MkII is every bit worth what we paid to get him.

Lucas - I liked most of Lucas game. The only downside was his strength against Thompson, who was able to shrug him off more than once.

Walker - My favorite player. Loved his endeavour and aggression. Really like him in defence.

Warnock - Fantastic game. Two in a row for the big fellow. Must hold his spot over Hampson.

Hampson - Awkward game from him. I think he's the one who goes for Waite. A Waite / Rowe combination until Kreuzer is fit will work better.

Garlett - A new level. The most important aspect of our forward line because of what he does when he doesn't have the ball, which makes what he does do with it the icing on the cake. Seems to be relishing under Malthouse (along with Yarran). Has now had 3 great games (Pies, WCE and now this). Break out season!

Murphy - Tackle machine yesterday. Sacrificed his high possession game to stop being hurt the other way. Real good captains game.

Armfield, Tuohy, Curnow - Did everything you need these guys to do. You can see their confidence levels rise in their determination at the 1:1 contest. Malthouse's mantra - win your contest.

If we can get a marking key position forward... watch out. Bring on the Dees.

Most sensible and accurate post in the entire collection. Well done Teckno.

Funny for those having a dig at Lucas. His conversion rate was 60% and Yarran's was 62% according to the AFL stats.

Regards Cazzesman

Ill take Yarrans effectiveness 100% of the time over Lucas Mr Cazz.
Lucas has too much going against him.
Soft, cant kick, cant tackle and has terrible smarts.
He can run and has endurance... ts the only reason hes in ...
Cos if youre looking in the reserves... the Bullants midfield is Markon / Lambert/Cachia etc. With Ellard.. who actually idnt spend alot of time there.

What IS in our reserves is a bunch of half back flanker types... and we dont need them atm..

Laidler
Duigan
Dale played there last week.
Bootsma
McArthy
Watto
Joseph joins their bulging ranks this week.
McIness is out with a knee

Its why Lucas is in the side...!!!
Yarran is in the side because he is electric.. its why you shouldnt point to stats at every chance

Well why aren't we playing these half back flankers that's we recruited (to become midfielders) in the midfield in the Northern Blues side.

It's ironic that the only player two players on that list Joseph and Dale who have claims to midfielders as juniors we are trying to turn into half back flankers.

 Yes!

I thought that highlighted how much difference a smart forward who can lead to the right spaces makes. Massive difference.

If only he could kick straight.

He did put on a nice shepherd that allowed McLean to kick that banana goal - if he can keep adding more 1%ers to his bow then he will get better, Mick Malthouse will demand this of every player.

I was frustrated with out last quarter but we held on for the win so bank it and move on.

I think that T Walker going off threw a bit of a spanner in the works - obviously he would have been a big focal point and probably made Adelaide a bit more unpredictable.

I've been critical of Lucas but he's really improved in the five games this season.

Tuohy has been excellent the last few games and is one of the few solidly built players on our list.

When are teams going to start paying McLean some respect?! Saw him on his own multiple times yesterday.

Fingers crossed that Gibbs' injury (hamstring or knee?) isn't too bad as I thought we wobbled without him.

Hampson has gotten worse since he came back from his op. Hate to say it, but trade him end of year.

I thought the last quarter was good for us. We were challenged and instead of succumbing to the mini onslaught we tightened the game up and finished quite strongly. Even though they lost Walker and no doubt it would have unsettled them the 2 players they moved up forward kicked 6 goals between them.

Regarding our "bomb it to Eddie" gameplan, again the question has to be asked about John Barker's value IMO.

Thought Simon White was serviceable. Puts his body on the line and can take a grab. Certainly not in the Davies and Joseph category like some around here would have you believe. Needs an injury free run.

Would love to see us persist with Warnock as our number one ruckman for the whole year. When he wins the tap he actually hits it to advantage..

Plus the guys at ground level read it nicely

+1 sort of

Also sitting in P but on the hff

Agree with most, except we clearly didn't dominate marking in the forward 50

Lucas had a good game and has improved, but he is still soft defensively. Needs to make his tackles stick

Agree with synbad re our unbalanced list including a plethora of not quite good enough hbfs. However, I reckon Lucas is improving after being slaughtered by Ratts and needs to be played every week.

Against WCE was his best game for the club. And he had some nice moments yesterday. Agree he needs to get stronger defensively but he wouldn't be Robinson Caruso there.

Lucas had a good game yesterday - particularly his first half.

Warnock was brilliant - best game I think i have seen him play.

Rowe set up 2 goals with clever taps instead of trying to out mark Rutten and then handballing to a runner. he has smarts - just needs time.

Very pleased with Touhy these last 3 weeks.

Curnow has been good these passed 2 weeks.

All in all, the past 2 weeks are starting to show signs of Mick's influence. Least that's how i see it. Players sticking to roles. Midfield building in accountability. More shepherding/blocking etc.

Definately one thing I noticed too Danny. Shepherding and blockiing. It sure makes a difference.
