If Hampson has ever played a worse game than today I haven't seen it. Embarrassing and incompetent.

Warnock was very good.

Contest over.

However 3 marks combined for the day from two blokes 6'10 and 6'8 is a real worry.

Does the guy watch the games??.... Fyffe is a star!!!... Lucas is a problem !!!
There is a 50/50 chance each time Lucas touches the ball or is in the play that something bad is going to happen.... you can go back as far as the Kreuzer knee re-co...
How do we draft a player that early who cannot kick???

I have to agree, Lucas has a limited football brain. May not make it but synbad talk to us about how malthouse is turning Garlett yarran arm field and thoHY and warnock into footballers

I think players are becoming less one dimmensional.. thus theyre more multi dimmensional.
Garlett does some terrific work through the midfield area.
Of course the days of stay at home small forwards are finished....you must take a turn through the midfield.. and midfielders have to go forward for a stint and become dangerous there.
One thing im loving is Brocks work... unfashionable and slow as he is.. he just keeps working hismelf to dangerous positions on the ground...i crack up laughing each time he torches them,
He is becoming a poor mans Diesel
Judd needs to do some of that.... he tried tonight.. and was semi succesful... still needs a 10% lift.
Happier with Murphs game.
Scotland is Mt Evergreen.
Curnow seems to have found his niche for now.
Warnock is the best ruckman at the club and when K comes back .. he should remain as the number 1 ruckman .. with a special position created for K... The Roamer... hes smart enough to get involved and create a missmatch .. and slip out the bac for a long bomb catch ... he has the work ethic...

But get rid of Lucas and Hampson/Rowe
Prefer to see Casbout as the target man

I agree, Did you see the tap to Carrazo that resulted in a goal in the first quarter?

Last week he beat the best Ruckman in the comp
This week he did well again.

How anyone can suggest that he should be traded out in lieu of Hampson is puzzling

Totally agree. Also, Rowe not much chop at all. Both of them are dumb and lazy footballers.... no leading into space. Bring back Casboult and give Mitchell a go
Laziest midfield in the comp

Don't understand the Malthouse gameplan?

Enlighten me TBB.
Let me guess, they're told to bring the ball to the ground at all costs.....Now I get it....so when I saw Hampson lead up a couple of times tonight and he had a metre distance on his opponent and 10cm reach difference, he dropped it deliberately so that Garlett, Betts or Yarran who were 25 metres away could swoop on it in under a second

You just told us there was no leading to space.

Hampson dropped those pretty obvious. He struggled tonight.

Malthouse game plan revolves around coming along the boundary and then bringing it back in to the hotspot, 15-20m from goal. Hampson and Rowe are there to mark the ball if possible, but bring it to ground...you got the rest with Garlett, Betts and Yarran crumbing.

We'll start slow for you. Understanding coaches and game plans has never been a strength for you.

If you understand that we'll explain the rest for you.

Thanks for the explanation TBB. I'll now erase all memories I have of Cloke, Dawes and Rocca ever leading under the Malthouse reign as it didn't happen

Hey you doomsayers......we won by 5 goals....get a grip!

We won but again, far from convincing. Too many turnovers, cheap goals conceded, our regulation fade out in the last quarter. We also seem to blindly bomb the ball to nowhere a lot and give it straight back to our opponents, this happened at least 10 times today.

From what I see we are miles away from being a top 4 side, top 8 at best. Not necessarily a bad thing, a decent base for Mick to build from, but gee I think we're kidding ourselves if we expect to be challenging this season.

In any case, good to see Simmo get back to some form, his best game for the year. Judd was immense, Murph solid, Walker great again, Tuohy was good at the back. Yarran all class again in the last with the steadier and Jeffy with 4 goals continuing his good form.

Im with everyone on Hampson, he has to goU, we can't persist with him much longer. 206 on the other hand was immense, great to see him in good form, he's our number 1 ruck defnitiely.

Im happy we got the win and we should be 3-3 next week so our season is back on track, but gee would it hurt for us to run out a game comfortably for a change?

Ken doll played his usual dangerous key post briliiant game

That guy.... needs to go the Magoos and learn to ruck...a career as a CHF is not beckoning......
His only chance is to learn to ruck and play elsewhere.

as for Rowe.

Setanta >>>>>>>>Rowe

No stamina.. ....

Rowe coming back from a year off after a pretty serious illness . Ease up

Caming back... but in the side to get involved... and he doesnt...
Its not like he has any AFL credits before his illness.

Ottens showed us how to have a makeshift non star forward.
Lead.. work hard .. lead hard again and again and put some daylight between yourself and defenders.

Our blokes dont know how and dont do it or dont work hard enough .. or cant

I can't believe how negative the comments are after beating a side thar was top 4 last year
If we make the 8 phenomenal effort with this list
Rowe exceptional for a 5 game chf. He gets to heaps of contests and brings the ball down for the little guys.
We are in this season now up to eyeballs

Yes top 4 Last year. Their form has been dubious at best so far this season IMO. The point being is I would suggest our team dominated this game, but did not make that count on the scoreboard. This should have been a ten goal plus flogging, but it wasn't. We continue to lack that killer instinct and bury teams when we should. Hammer and Rowe were awful IMO. Neither attacked the ball or created a consistent contest. The suggestion that hammer dropped marks on purpose is laughable. He had at least a handful of opportunities to mark. Thank god our smaller players can be dangerous and actually convert. Fact is better teams won't let that happen as easily as Adelaide did. Our lack of kpf who can take contested marks is a massive hole in our team. Until that gets resolved we won't be winning a premiership anytime soon.

Now for the positives: Brock, walker, judd, yaz, garlett and carrots were great tonite. I hope Gibbs is ok too. Warnock is potentially the best tap ruck man in the comp.

Only saw about half the game, but I agree. Worst game I've ever seen from Hammer. Needs a run at VFL level. Casboult only needs another reasonable performance to return.

Too many poor decisions that resulted in rebounding over our heads. Crows are good at getting free 20-35m in front of the ball and then getting the ball on a lead. Happened too often.

Yeah, not sure whether it was simple midfield laziness. Or poor defensive set up. Not sure why we didn't leave some players in defensive 50 once we got 5 goals up. Bombing into a crowded forward 50, then watching the ball rebound over your head into an open 50 is dumb footy. Especially since Adelaide struggle to kick goals any other way.

Apparently its our gameplan.

Would have by 12 goals if we had one of those. Looks like Megs will see a bit more of hammer.

And there is lots to see for her.....

That quote sums up the Negs for me.
The Pos.
There were some patches of great teamwork.
A fairly pleasant experience overall, with a win, balmy breeze, a sunset peeping over the G and then a misty full moon for the walk back to the station.
Not too shabby for mine.

Maybe with Krooz and Waite forward we will look better.

The defense looked shaky again when Gibbs went off. He was quite clever in the first half working the angles and using his hard defensive running. Hope his hammy is not too bad.

Still a few players not quite there. Hopefully Malthouse can iron that out.

The Crows have a super lazy midfield. Dangerfield, Sloan and Thompson were terrible with their defensive running and made life easy for out attacking players.

Just got home and it was a fairly ordinary game of footy.

We came out firing, got a lead and then started stuffing around. Never going to lose it. In previous years I couldn't say that.

Now 2-3 with Melbourne, St Kilda, Port & Brisbane to come. Good position to be in.

Like the use of McLean as a mid/fwd. Enjoyed the bigger ground. Gibbs good early. Walker very good. Tuohy playing well. In all most contributed.

Warnock very good. If he can get 6-8 weeks under him I think he will be fantastic.

Can we now PLEASE give away the ruckman forward trial? It won't work. Hampson is not a forward. Never will be. I thought with Walker off Henderson might have gone forward.

Rowe I will give him time but at best is that second ruck 3rd fwd type.

Next week can we give Henderson Rowe & Casboult a go as our fwds. :banghead:

Bring in McCarthy, Laidler or Watson as a key defender.

Midfield looked dominant early and won a lot of clearances. Curnow was solid on Sloanebut his disposal is poor.

Lucas ran hard but his decision making and ball use is pathetic. Was he this bad as a junior? Anyone know? If it was he should not have been drafted so low.

Three amigos good, Murphy getting better each week.

Another week another win and yet lots of improvement to come!
