One of the reasons tigers, hawks, and pies ,have high memberships is they all have G as their and with a capacity of 100000 very few have reserve seating .

When we play our homes games at the G our membership will increase remarkably but our revenue may not increase as we have a very high reserve seating ratio which is much higher than most clubs ( geelong has the highest) .

Shhh! hotspur! This is the membership thread...you can't make that much good sense in here!

What a great idea free tickets to Port match,I would go to every school in Carlton/Brunswick, Coburg +Preston ( secondary and primary) and just hand them out.Get the players to do it ,imagine the good p.r.
Really what have we got to lose .we will probably get 30000 to the game normally and extra 5000-10000 would be great .Bring it on I say. Also what about giving out free junior 3 game membership,we dont make money from them anyway( my only query is there a 3 game junior membership)

....a special catch-cry for each season is good too

I am Carlton is good for the carlton faithful

But we do need to ram something down the competitions throat - especially the bombers

One of the reasons i reckon is theyre top AFL sides.. and were average these days...

So we have less members this year than last year cos were not at the MCG???
We wernt at the MCG last year too...

Oh ... i reckon this club is stale.. !!!

How can we be stale when we haven't had any success for a long time?

Geelong can be accused of staleness - but Carlton????

43827 as at April 30th
2000 per month extra ( very disappointing)I thought by now we would be over 45000. Anybody know if we are up on this time last year. I doubt it

Even more disappointing is that on the back of 2 wins on the trot, we've increased by just 800 members in the last 2 weeks. I expected to see a bit of a spike now that the team was playing some winning football. 50K is nothing more than a pipedream

There are probably a few reasons for the sluggish increase in our membership. You would have noticed that although we have quite a few superstars in the team, they are not that appealing to the young kids.

YOu need a player like Kouta or Fev, who attract the new supporters - that's where the growth is.

Nothing matches the drawing power of a Buddy.

ALso, we haven't had much success in over a decade with only one finals win - and that was against a rabble.

The Blues need to think out of the square - provide very cheap memberships to kids for example (not just a back pack with a few goodies in it).

On the other hand, I think historically the Blues had modest numbers of supporters who actually signed up each year.

Think of the 1995 and 1996 seasons - I don't think we have over 20,000 members at that time. And our team had everything. Champions on each line, characters, veterans, bald headed players, kouta, young stars, legends - you name it

One needs to look at how much money the club generates from its supporters - ie not just memberships, but sponsorships etc, and commercial arrangements. I am not sure how we compare with other clubs on that level

Of course Carlton supporters are apathetic - we have Bruce's pokies - and Jeanne's cash

The only time supporters became members and had a sense of responsibility was when the benefactors shut their wallets

list the cash that Jeanie has injected into the club

Those Pubs filled with pokies aren't on our books yet - and we need to pump money into them to get a return down the track

Sporting clubs generating revenue via pokies and gambling are ruining society (with the exception of the Kangaroos who haven't gone down that path)

You very rarely hear about the profits generated by AFL clubs from gambling

You do hear about all this so called wonderful community work the clubs do (usually attributed to the players, via their hospital visits etc which is one positive outcome)
