There needs to be an urgent umpiring enquiry about the game. WC only 4 more frees than Carlton. 22 v 18. Disgraceful. Eagles supporters in uproar.

Their frees were always forward of the centre though

It was also the free kicks that weren't paid to us and won't appear in the stats sheet. Especially, those holding the ball non decisions in the last quarter.

One more thing - MM doesn't stuff around, het got up Brad Green about knowing how long was left in a qtr and got up the team for letting west coke get back in the game - we needed a tough coach and as someone else said, not a best mate in charge

Simpson had a bottom 6-10 player game. If Simpson is a bottom 6-10 player then it was a good game

I thought he was better, did he played in back pocket or HBF tonight?

He will make the bp his own ...

You picked this last week synners

With Walker coming back and possibly Robinson coming in too, I think we can move Simmo full time to defence. He is quick, footy smart, very good one on one, solid overhead. Gives run. He has played there occasionally and whenever he has I have liked what I've seen. Would seem an ideal type for the role to me and I think would really add something.

Thoughts?

A defender that can not tackle? Interesting concept

As a ruckman. Not in the forward line though

Warnock is number 1 ruck around here... i hope this drove it home.. and K is a much better player to have on the ground than Hampson.. Hammer does a couple of good things... and alot of shit things...

There is a football ledger!!!.... people shoud keep note of it...

Point is, Warnock and Hampson won't be competing for the same spot. Warnock and Kreuzer will compete for number 1 ruck spot, and hammer and Kreuzer will compete for the forward / 2nd ruck spot.

But yes, I agree we look a lot better with Warnock in the ruck. It's a shame Kreuzer hasn't shown more up forward as I thought he might early in his career

Yep can't play all 3

MM using Curnow as a pure run with on Gaff was a great move. I thought Curnow's contested work was first class, strong in the contest, used handball as the first option instead of kicking. One of his best games for the club IMO, but boy his kicking is bad.

Agree KK. Think it was BlueVain that mentioned pre-game about needing to stop Gaff and Curnows elite running power and endurance proved to be the ideal match up.

The absolute worst umpiring decision of the night:

Carrazzo getting done for high tackle on that weak cheating ducking flower selwood. Selwood picks up the ball on our 50, looks up, sees carrazzo approaching front on, puts his head back down and basically charges at carrazzo. Carrots see's this pricks tactics coming and plays it perfectly. Pulls up and does well to not make any forceful contact. Selwood's head rams into carrazzo who is almost stationary. Whistle. High tackle.

I nearly put my fist through the tv. It was the most blatant case of ducking the head you could ever see and the umpire was 5 metres away. Selwood is a repeat repeat repeat offender and the umpires should be expecting it from him. Carrots was livid

14:47 left in the 3rd qtr

No, he's a midfielder. For his own sake he will become elite and potentially win a brownlow if he plays midfield all the time. We waste him in defence.

He's not wasted if that's where he's needed.

Club29 can sort this out for you, I can't be bothered.

Yep. Saving goals by tracking his fast opponents run when they are on the rebound. Big goal saving tackles. Being like a wall when pressing up. Delivering inside 50 when pressing up. Rebounding with poise. Getting shots at goal on the overlap. Reading the play better than most to make sure he mops up defensive 50 ground balls with ease. Giving our defense a more mobile feel that isnt so stagnant. SUCH A WASTE !!

No need to move him forward. Our defense will be 3 goals better and our attack from defense will be 2 goals better.
Taking yarran or garlett out of the front half to move gibbs in wouldn't be a smart move most would agree.
Let him settle to become the best possible defender he can be. Probably no Brownlow though.

As much as last nights win was fantastic you have to look at west coast season so far.

They have lost 3 games at home in a row (unheard of these days) and beat Melbourne. No NicNat no west coast.... But I don't give a shit.....hahaha...

I see your point, but at the same time a win over there against WC with an extra 3 players is never anything to be sneezed at, even if they're out of form.

Great win!!

As much as I despise West Coast I don't mind Woosha, but having said that was it just me or was that quite an ungracious interview he did with Lingy?

I just got off the phone with a TCer and the conclusion was that the last goal may save his spot because there's something really wrong with Simmo.

I don't want to sound too harsh but he was not good last night. I thought Curnow gave us more albeit they played different roles.

He can't break lines, can't get around opponents, always gets caught unless he releases early and he seems to be lobbing the ball. His handballa are weak. He's lost form....but there's no doubting his desperation and intensity.

I don't like the way he plays to be wrapped up then he hits the ground and holds the ball. He's been caught plenty times doing that so its not what I want to see in a GF because he'll be pinged again.

I believe he's hit his peak and started losing it in 2011 when his kicking was askew.

I hope I'm wrong but he's been a hero of the club through those dark years.
Geez I hope he figures out where he's at and plays within his capabilities.

At the end of the day, he kicked the last goal of the game, we cheered and went nuts and for that 'good' sign he keeps his spot.

Nah, I agree on both fronts.

Woosha is about the only thing I like about West Coast, but that interview was rubbish. Came across as a bad sport. Probably just frustrated at dropping a 3rd home game more than anything, but it was an ordinary effort from him.

Simmo obviously still not in top form but I loved some of his desperation when the game was on the line. Really threw himself at the contest a few times. He'll be right. He'll play himself back in to form. A few easier wins with some free outside ball would be great for his confidence

If Simmo plays with that kind of heart.. he will be back in form real soon....

But id keep him in the backline
Agile.. good overhead and a good penetrating kick when in the groove

A liability on the last line when he's not.

You need a BP who can make tackles stick.

He's done some very ordinary things in the first 4 rounds on the last line...dropping plenty of marks, ordinary handballs which dont make the distance, kicks not hitting targets, weak tackling, bad shooting for goal (except that last goal...but that was when he was forward.

He's past his best and has to learn to play within himself. He can't do the things he use to do to break lines. He lost 1/2 a yard last year and seems to have lost another 1/2 yard this year.

I don't think its form...maybe it is a bit (hopefully)...I think he can still play an integral part in our 22...his desire and desperation are Simmoesque, but he needs to play with less risk than he's been use to....IMO.
