Thought Tuohy was good tonight. Won a lot of strong 50/50 contests.

Touhy definitely upped his game, and served it up to puncy Selwood too.

Touhy had his best game for a long while. Attacked the man and the footy.
Davies kept Smedts to about 5 touches.
Walker was great but that last dropped sitter was a blight on an otherwise good game.
Hendo looks good when he has the footy in hand. I wish we would release him forward, even though we need him at CHB. We need two of him.
Judd played well.
Lucas is getting better every week.
Rowe isn't the answer, regardless of the question. Hammer is better but now we have lost Kreuzer possibly for six or eight weeks if it is a broken wrist, Hammer and Warnock will have to play.
Murphy is a shadow of the player he was two years ago.
Gibbs will never be an elite player. He just doesn't want it badly enough and drifts in and out of the play. At least he had a couple of good tackles tonight.
Yarran has to stay forward.
Garlett is electric but tonight there was a power outage after quarter time.
We miss Betts.
Waite must be laughing all the way to the bank. His 3 year contract was the heist of the decade. We need him on the park, not in the sick bay.
McLean played better tonight, which is interesting, seeing as it was an open fast game.

Well done Bucks for getting through the game unscathed and doing a couple of good things.

So far, getting MM has not reaped any visible benefit to me. We are still playing Ratten's game plan. When it looks good, it is good but defensively we are crap. The MM zone is too tight and allows players to run loose outside the packs and opens us up week after week.
Defending the kickout should be of the utmost importance but we have a zone that allows the opposition to run and chip goal to goal. The concept of slowing the game down or playing one on one for a while to break up the opposition game just doesn't seem to be in the plan.

I don't know what the free kick count was but there seems to be two rules atm. One for Geelong and WCE and one for the rest. They had weeks to dispose of the footy and threw it half the time. Selwood should be exposed for what he is. A cheat. He is a good player and shouldn't have to milk the frees but when Geishen comes out and says playing for frees is OK, what can one expect?

Lets plan for 2014.

Play the Buckleys, Casboults, Bells and Bootsmas into form and give a few like Simmo and maybe even Gibbs a week in the twos.
Try watson, McArthy and Mitchell. Temay. Anybody. I don't care if we finish 15th. I'm sick of this shit already.

I dont post alot, but I do have to have to say Simmo has been my favourite for a long time but to see him tonight sulking and not puttting in at all, was devastating and to see gibbs play the way he played....

a statement has to be made, and these 2 need to go and play in the bullants....terrible!!!! and carrots is on the border of joining them

I must be the only one here that has been impressed with the improvement in Lucas. Plenty of more senior players and supposed leaders not doing all that flash at the minute.

Clearly Lucas and Joseph are not up to it. And I hate to say it, but Simpson is stinking up the place at the moment too. Murphy at least improved as the game went on.

Actually I thought Lucas played OK. Joseph did a couple of good tings but not enough. I think he may be too short. He isn't scared to have a go but he seems to be a kick it long at all costs type of player. Sometimes that's OK but sometimes it isn't.

Same as last week for me. Matched it with a top 4 side for chunks of the game but not good enough in the end.

I guess a positive part about not pinching a win from the first 3 (close) games is that it means we won't be papering over some rather large cracks....

As some of us identified before the season, Mick has a bigger job ahead of him than most appreciate. He did not inherit the 'dream job', he inherited a team with some major flaws. Having said that, some of the comments in the match day thread are OTT. We are a fair way from being the worst team in the competition. We are also a fair way from the top 4. We are a middle of the road side and have been for a few years now. I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

My advice is ignore the ladder until the halfway mark of the season.

The worst part about tonight for me is the Kreuzer injury :banghead: Hopefully it's not as bad as feared. At least it gives 206 an opportunity (he is in form too - see VFL thread).

When was the last time a big name Carlton player got dropped?
And Walker would be leading the BnF ATM... hope he keeps it up.

How about we stick a tackle for once.. endeavour is there, but not strong enough with our tackling

It has happened every game so far where we have had someonne cold, but they have just shrugged us off.. Lucas especially, although he has improved, his tackling would have to be close to the worst in the league

i think he's doing ok too. but he seriously needs to get in the gym and bulk up because he has no confidence to put his body on the line.
