For those with the inclination it's worth watching the Collingwood match on replay. With the passion of "who's going to win" removed it's easier to get a fairer perspective. We played pretty well. Biggest problem was lack of composure in the 4th - way too many kicks just thrown on the boot. This was across the team.

IMO we should keep almost the same team - give them a chance to grow and develop together. My only changes would be Scotland in, (not sure for who, Laidler looks underdone, but it probably comes down to matchups ).

McLean in, Bell sub -- just for rotation, rate both similarly at the moment.

Lachie's goal was fabulous.
It really looked like we ran out of legs, and they sipped some beneficial green tea.
Are they just fitter at this stage?

I thought we had one too many defenders in and were missing a runner. An extra midfielder instead of Davies would've been handy.

Smedts will be a gun and looks like he's played 100 game already. Plus Caddy was a big pickup for them.
Interesting that they saw fit to trade for Caddy when we didn't need anybody new.

This is a team which is rebuilding on the move, one player or two at a time, like Sydney has done s they never have to bottom out.

We can win this but I am not at all confident.

I can't believe our recruiting has been so bad, but our player development is woeful.

Is Stephen Wells from Geelong such a recruiting genius or are Geelong (and Collingwood for that matter) able to develop pick 30+ selections better than everyone else.

They pick better players. And Collingwood have just recruited the best in the business (in my opinion) in Matt Rendell.

Not convinced. The draft is overrated. Development is underrated.

A lot of blame seems to be directed at the youngsters, Bootsma, Lucas, Casboult - I think more heat should be directed at Simmo, Laids, Carrots and Murph. These are the guys we need to play well. Expecting Bootsma to hold his ground and to do well is a big call. Maybe more support from our leaders will take some pressure of the youngsters.

A point well made.

Christensen - Pick 40
Motlop. - Pick 39
Duncan. - Pick 28
West. - Pick 31
Hunt. - Pick 49
Stokes. - Pick 61

And if you want to throw in players who have been in the system longer like

Chapman. - Pick 31
Enright. - pick 47

These are 8 players who played for Geelong last week.

If Stephen Wells is that much of a genius then I might give him a call and ask him for this weeks Powerball Numbers.

The big question I am ashamed to ask is who has been in charge of Geelongs player development all this time.

Don't underestimate our player development, I think we've done a good job with two players already this year - Ty Vickery and Jamie Elliott.

We're also great at running players into form - just wait till round 7 when that flowering slimy tip rat who will have hardly touched the ball all year kicks 8 goals against us.

..so Hammer may be right to come straight back in, will he be a bit tender still?, their KPDs will work him over and his role requires a certain amount of physical battering.. ..and if he comes in, which of Bolt/Rowe goes out..?.. ..and what's the thinking regarding Knocker's pushing for selection also..

I think Hampson will be named, but I don't think he plays. Make Warnock an emergency and bring him in. I would drop Casboult, but keep Rowe in the team. If necessary use Rowe as a bit of a decoy and keep Walker forward.

I'm told Ellard is okay and may be a real chance this week.

If it was up to Mick, then he'll be in.

Sees Ellard as an important cog in the machine.

Why Warnock Doc? What role do you see him playing?

IMO one of the first positive changes I've noticed under MM is that we finally seem to have stopped fluffing around with our ruckmen. Kruezer's our #1 ruck. If he's fit he plays - end of story.
Backup ruck comes from one of the forward kpps. I can't see Warnock fitting into that picture.

Murphy?
Maybe if he spent more time in the middle instead of the half forward flank, he'd be half a chance....

I think it will be tough to win this.

Bit more adjustment required, but we are coming along at a good pace.

I expect us to have a massive crack against west coast on the big ground at subi, & cause an upset.

In: Scotland, Buckley & Hampson
Out: Davies, Bootsma & Casboult

Armfield. Rowe. Scotland
Laidler. Jamo. Yarran.
Lucas. Carrots. Bell.
Simmo. Henderson. Robbo
Garlett. Hammer. Walks
Kreuzer. Judd. Murphy
McLean. Gibbs. Buckley
Sub: Tuohy

Rowe looks good back and strong enough to have a dip on Pods.
Our big Fwds are scoring so give Henderson another crack.
Play Buckley whilst Betts is out.
Play simmo fwd, last a yard of pace I reckon and is greeting burnt weekly in the foot races/chases, let him create off HF. I'd try HB but he seems to run off his men too much.
