Thread: Micks press conference.

Then proceed to read......bloody funny thread.
Love your work club, as does everyone else.
We needed a diversion from the list which is supposedly "@#$%&! fantastic".

What else could MM say?
You see the coaches job is to add a bit of theatre, common sense and a bit of science...footy science which makes us think.
He needn't mention weaknesses between the ears and heart and desire...he summed it up as smarts.

We could've won.
The umps could've paid the free to Army...and others.
Nevertheless the game goes on...and MM compares our wits and intelligence against Pies who he knows intimately.

Lynch got 24 possessions....never did that before.
Because he was smarter?

No need for more. MM said what he had to say and that was it.
End the controversy there.
The players were expected to do the rest.
7 goals to 2 in the last. FMD!
What's that got to do with Ratts or MM?
NOTHING.

WE are learning about the lack of depth with this list.
Something I thought we had in abundance.

JUDD is the only game breaker in the midfield: there's the problem MM saw last year.
He didn't need to say that again. He's building a team and their belief systems and Judd will be retiring by the end of MM's 3 year reign.

Ratten had that many injuries to key blokes for long periods of time last season and he copped it in the end because we didnt make finals.

The players get let off too lightly in my opinion. im not saying malthouse isnt a good coach, im saying ratten wasnt that bad a coach.

Finals in 2013 or we have gone backwards.

Not necessarily so.
You cant fix years worth of bad habits and bad list management overnight.
It might take this season for Mick to pick out the rotten wood from Ratten's list and then work on bringing in players who he knows can do the job.

I think even if we dont win a flag in 3 years... we will be in a better place than we are now.

We just have no winning culture or willingness to do the hard stuff

For too long we relied on talent to win games; no wonder we could not win 4 in a row.
Micks job is make all players contributors; so we lessen dependency on top 12 players.
I think he will do this; we have be better for that change in approach.

Micks game plan is shit . Couldnt give a crap about culture . A winning culture comes from winning games . If we keep playing this kick it down the line to a contest and dont introduce some form of tempo footy or play the switch we wont win .
So Mick can shove his plan up his arse as far as Im concerned because you wont develop a winning culture losing games

I'm not happy that he's our coach BUT I'm willing to give him a chance, if we are not travelling well after playing ten games than I'll be disappointed.
What does astound me is the flip flopping of people on here who were baying for Ratten's blood because we underachieved and are now stating that it's Ratten's list and fault that Mick is struggling.

Sunday's games show how hard you have to work to win games these days, Geelong coming from behind to best North Melbourne and us being in front and not working hard enough to stay there.

And as Dominator alludes to until we can string 4 or 5 wins in a row against quality opposition ( when was the last time we won 5 in a row) we will never be in contention to make top 4 let alone win a premiership.

I can understand why "stats" lovers hated this presser...

haha I know what you mean. Classic everytime he went after one he couldnt find it on the sheet or didnt have his specks.
He was prickly though. I wonder if he does that to kill time. Belittling the bloke who asked about our weakness.

I don't really care about pressers. People use to lose it when Ratts did one because he used stats to kill time. Always funny.

Mick will go after the reporters week in week out and in the end they will love going after him.

Like him or not I feel more comfortable with Malthouse leading us than Ratts.

Having said that I believe we will not make the finals. Malthouse has heaps of re-engineering to do

There'll be no immediate success with Mick IMO - probably a mini-rebuild coming at the end of the season.

Agree, but having said that I thought the club hired a 59 year old bloke on a mill a season for immediate success.

bang bang

And the other millions spent paying out Ratten/Williams/Richardson/Riley.

Poor management...when it comes to coaching appointments, signing players made of tissue paper on 3 year deals, not having a recruiting focus on players who are at least adequate kicks.

Top 6 this year or it's a fail.

Actually its a 3 year contract... depends on what your definition of immediate is......

A three year contract means 3 years.... unless im mistaken
