Ah well, glass half full, we are playing reasonable footy, sorting out the wheat from the chaff, now for a few wins.

Armfield was far from our worst. His hardness, speed and tackling ability alone make him more valuable than a lot of players who have lined up in round 1 and 2.

Was a great last qtr.. and the pies just simply out ran and out played us. The umpiring in the first 3 qtrs was some of the worst ive ever seen. Some of the missed calls were absolute !@#$%& robbery.
Last qtr was good (with the exception of the missed Armfield 'in the back' call... which might have very well cost us the game).

We need players like Bell, Robbo and Armfield to string more games together alongside one another to compliment Murphy, Lucas and Simpson who are VERY MUCH vanilla outside players.

I feel like if it didnt rain we would have one. Judd couldnt pick up the ball to save his life.

Looked a lot better this week, but still SO much to work on.

One what?

Better than last week, pies better drilled and their bottom 6 or so played better. Shake my head at most of the posts on here. Not sure what you expected, but surely it wasn't a comprehensive win without Waite and Betts. Thouy a massive concern, Laidler can't be fit. Scotland will help also. Better times ahead

Great now my wife is angry at me for swearing at the TV.

My notes:

Tacking in general wasnt very good - particularly from Lucas. He missed CRUCIAL tackles
Casboult needs to justify his position soon
Davies was OK but nothing more
Where the hell was the run in the last quarter? How did they have so many loose players?
Our backline was actually OK. Did a good job. Many Pies goals were more luck than anything.
The umpires were @#$%&! SHITHOUSE
Bootsma didnt have the cardio or strength to play. He needs to get one or the other up to standard. Either be a big 95kg defender or be an elite runner. Can't fail at both.
Henderson was good when he went forward - set up one and kicked another. He and Rowe would make a good KPF pair. Having said that, his work in defence was excellent. Sucks that we have to choose between the two positions.
@#$%&! Collingwood.

Disgraceful. Not because we lost, but because they went into their shells and were soft. When it came time to put their heads over the ball (talking to you Bryce Gibbs) or gut run to provide another option (hello Brock McLean), they were found wanting.

A case of too many expecting too few to get the team over the line. Not impressed.

Collingwood run harder

Read heart for that one.A few of our players should look at Matthew Kreuzer to see what heart and gut running looks like.

Now I have calmed a bit

Starting to think that this year is a learning year for our guys where Mick is seeing who can cut the mustard and who can not

top 8 may be beyond us but I will take it as long as this year is in fact a learning year

Have faith that those in charge know what they are doing but gee it would of been nice to win that one

I agree but wouldn't single out anyone. The effort in the last wasn't there. Dont know if it was lack of ability or lack of will. They looked very tired when I would have thought we should have the legspeed in the last.

That one contest out on the wing was a bit embarrassing. Stopped a couple of metres from the ball and waited for the Collingwood player to pick it up so he could tackle.

Oh, and how long is it going to take us to adjust to the new interpretation of in the back when tackling? Probably by the time they stop paying it, we'll stop doing it.

Good game of footy. If we learn anything from it, it has to be that we need to take control of the footy and chip it sometimes to a loose man. They showed us how to do it last quarter and then opened us up with run. In reply we kicked it long to the forwards as usual and they just went two and three up to spoil.

Good observation. The thing we need to do if we're going to bomb it long is get numbers to the fall of the ball. Our players don't work hard enough to get up and down the field.

Yep. Totally outclassed in final qtr.

Easy to do in hindsight but Duigan may have offered more than Laidler today who looked underdone.

MM was hired to take us to top 4.

He said last year he was happy with the list

Implying that he was happy keeping Joseph and Davies types on the list.

If we aren't top 6 at the end of the season it's a massive fail.

How often do you get to take on a team without a recognised ruckman?

Good teams capitalise.

Teams with Kreuzer/Gibbs/Judd/Murphy/Bell/MClean/Robinson/Carrazzo....should be able to capitalise against a team with no ruckman!

Look, because of the list we have, we play a taxing brand of football that gets exposed time and again. Too small, too short but with taller forward targets that don't have the athleticism and/or footy smarts.

Looked lazy, had no run, but you can't seriously not see that we just ran out of legs in the last quarter.

We play some amazingly dumb football at times. Two players go to the player with the ball and leave someone free.

Murphy gathering the ball on the wing, Ball hangs back rather than shepherd, receives the handball and kicks it out on the full.

Lots of work to do yet, but can't be totally devastated at losing to Collingwood by less than 3 goals, in the game with a couple of minutes to go.

Ofcourse you can be.
We had the game after all the stupid, lazy and selfish decisions we were making.
Then to top it off even more we took it a step further.
Even though I didn't think it possible.
All you saw was our players running to receive the ball like always rarely do you see them go and support the carrier or to support their team mate.
