Jeez few defenders (or players who normally play in defence) about the place. Must be planning on running Yarran, Walker, Touhy, Armfield all through the middle for extended periods.

White is a lot better option than Davies! So let's hope bootsma , Davies, yarran don't get caught 1 out in the back 50 or the pies will have a field day

The pictures that Davies must have must be of Ratten & Malthouse.

Smart kid, he will go far.

Cue the army of goldfish. OMG WTF Davies? Should have played Joseph! Sure I cracked the shits last week when he got picked, but that was last week! What about Luke Mitchell? And so the merry-go-round goes...

Good luck to Davies, hope he does well. As I said when I mentioned him as a possible in during the week, reckon that Walker starts forward for mine, possibly Yarran too.

Will say one thing in defence of the "play the scrubs" policy. If its one thing that gave me the shits re Ratten, was when he'd do the same thing around Rd 17-18, and expect them to come in cold and have an impact. At the very least, they're just as rare as everyone else this early in the year.

In spite of the excessive changes in total, reckon they've got it right at the selection table as possible, given the injuries.

Go Davies! I'm still a strong believer in this kid. Probably will get a role in defence filling Duigans role. They are very similar in physique.

Just another example of MM backing kids in big games.

Has Mick got his Davies mixed up?

Justin used to have good games against the Pies

I do love my blues, but it just hit me... Were an ordinary team.. Lean back in ur seat and read the team aloud.
I do have faith, but lots of fear as well.

Robinson, Kreuzer, Bell, Davies, Laidler.

Much more physical team this week which is exactly what we need.

I'm pleasantly surprised that Laidler has come in for Duigan, but I have moderate expectations of what Laidler will produce first up after seeing him play last Saturday.

Assuming no late changes, I think we'll see:

Walker Jamo Laidler
Bootsma Hendo Tuohy
Lucas Judd Armfield
Simmo Gibbs Robbo
Garlett Casboult Murphy

Kreuzer Carrazzo Bell

Inter: Brock, Rowe, Yarran
Sub: Davies

I would start with just the one tall in attack and try to run the Magpie defenders ragged. At different times we'll have 2 talls (combinations of Casboult, Rowe & Kreuzer), but long bombs will play right into Collingwood's hands. Walker and/or Hendo can go forward if it's not working, and Rowe can go into defence or give us a #3 ruck option if required. Garlett & Yarran must step up in Betts' absence...

I'm surprised Johnson is playing for Collingwood....still might not...abd their emergencies don't send shivers down my backbone.

I'm surprised about Davies being selected.
I don't have an issue with him developing into a good player. He has a bit of speed that Laidler and Duigan don't have an abundance.

I'm really glad to see that form does matter and a leader was dropped for form issues: Duigan.

We're going to win this if we play Ratten's game plan and the players play like men possessed.

I'm sure MM knows what he's doing.

I suspect Davies and Bootsma will be swapped and selected as sub.

If one of those is HB it releases Gibbs into the midfield and if Simmo plays BP or HB it releases Army so there's a bit of pace to throw into the midfield.

Kreuzer can ruck all day and we've got 2 players who can give him spells.

We're going to win this. I'm not that impressed with their team...doesn't scare me if we can win the midfield.

Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, McLean, Robinson, Armfield, Yarran, Bell, Garlett, Simpson, Lucas and Walker having a role in the midfield gives us plenty of ammunition to throw at them.

PLEASE WIN...we need to crack the 50K members....we need to have it over the Pies...we need to stay in touch of the 8....we need a good news story till Scotland, Waite, Betts and Hampson come back.

Blues by 14 points

Tuoy Jamieson Laidler
Yarran Watson Armfield
Carrazzo Gibbs Simpson
Walker Henderson Robinson
Garlett Casbolt Rowe
Kruezer Murphy Judd

Bell, Curnow, McLean
Sub: Duigan

in: Watson, Laidler, Bell, Rowe
out: Bootsma, Joseph, Hampson, Betts, Lucas

As for Bootsma
We cant afford to play young bodys and throw them in defence, its crazy. 4 points is up for grabs, its the AFL, not the development academy. His time will come

Rubbish.

If the MC believe he has been performing then he has every right to be playing. It's then in the interests of those you feel are 'better' than Boots to prove the MC wrong. Some call it competition ;-)

I would've thought it's exactly where young first round picks should serve their apprenticeships.

I think Davies is in to play wing on O'brien.
Bootsma the sub
