Now that you put it like that I'd love to see Hampson & Megan Gale going at it

Hampson just needs to @#$%&! well kick straight. He'd average 3 goals a game easy.

The guy needs to get fierce.. all that athletic ability and God given physical attributes and he plays like a Ken Barbie doll

Setanta was also a better kick for goal than both Casboult and Hampson and he was a Hurler...

Fair points.

Sometimes one can think back in 1995 we had one great ruckman - Harry - and back up ruckmen in Kouta and the Duke of Earl. All imposed themselves on the contest/had physicality.

or in 1982 we had Wow Jones as the back up ruck. He had plenty of physicality. This freed up Fitz to be effective at CHF in 1982 g/final.

It is a difficult balancing act- but to rely on Hampson as being the only key forward target (as it seemed to be for much of this match) is fraught with danger. A better balancing act in other options is needed. They tried Casboult in the first half as a go to target but he had moments where he lacked true endeavour. Someone who has a bit more experience than these two is needed there as a key forward target= takes a lead, marks, goals.

Either way, Carlton's strength should be its running brigade. The more in the running brigade the better. You saw glimpses of that speed of movement in the match. That was one of the few positives in the match.

Youre saying Hampson is a 70 goal per year target man???

Agree Hammer could put more forward pressure on. Needs to work on his recovery after contests. But in the last season or so, I've seen him hit packs really hard and hurt opponents.

Is Ken Barbie the brother of Klaus Barbie? I believe he has no brass balls.

weve seen Hammer hit packs hard about 4 times.. and we make a deal over hitting them hard 4 times

ZERO tackles

I was really encouraged by Hampsons game and he'll be a very valuable forward for us IMHO.
Put it this way, he's miles ahead of any other tall forwards on our list.
8 marks for the night including 4 contested (twice as many as any Richmond player), 6 marks inside 50 (Richmond as a team took 8!)
Plenty of bullocking for the smalls, handballed a sitter off to Gibbs, bought the ball to ground if he didnt mark it, plenty of 1 percenters (4th highest in the team) and some good contesting in the ruck.

One of the big pluses of the night for me. His kicking is poor but that can be rectified. I thought it was average of MM to have a go at the tall forwards and their marking in the presser. 9 marks inside 50 between Kruez and Hampson compared to Richmonds total of 8 indicated their value.
The structures and work of our mids at the centre bounce was the killer for us. If we can sort that out, Hammer will be good value against an undersized Pie defence.

Yes I am agreeing with him. He needs to kick straight it's a major deficiency. But he's clunking big grabs so he's halfway there. No one else can even take a mark so who cares if they can kick straight, they can't get the ball!

..Hammer is fine as ruck relief deep fwd, playing li8ke a 3rd tall.. ..the problem is, we have no main KPF to handle the pressure and organise the fwd-line.. ..Levi is a kid learning the game in many respects, and Hampson we got as a project Ruck, with great athletic capabilities, but no know-how in regards to using his athletic capabilities.. ..he's top 3 at the club for straight-line speed, but you don't see him use it anywhere near enough..

..he's fine as the cameo fwd and relief ruck, but as the main guy he's just too ungainly.. ..it's very difficult to structure up fwd around 2 players of such little experience and overall [current] quality, especially when they're both late-comers to the game, and only 1 is an actual fwd..

..in regards to Rucks, it's tricky because as much we like to see Krooz and think he could be an answer up fwd, he's not a fwd.. ..he can rest fwd sure, but stick an opposition KPD on him all game and so much of what he brings can get nullified.. ..he's just too good on-ball to leave him out of the action.. ..i'd rather try him as a ruck rover, than a CHF, if Warnock must play as 1st ruck.. ..also, very few 2-ruck combo's work with even ruck duty splits, generally 1 ruck does better playing max time onbnall.. ..the belief is Knockers ought to get first hands on ball due to his height, but he's another like hammer that doesnt know how to get the most out of his height..

Laidler missed Thursday nights game because of a disciplinary reasons. I won't go into detail but he was served with a one match suspension due to an off field matter. Nothing to serious and probably to harsh of a penalty in my thoughts

Thanks for clearing the air trublu.

I'm hoping that is now in the past and he is selected to his rightful spot in defense for the seniors against Pies

New "no d!ckheads policy" was it?...I hope it was serious enough to justify missing the opener

If true, then I'm OK with it. I don't know the details but I want a disciplined unit who are all on the same page. Set standards early!

Yet he was named as emergency for the NAB GF and Thursday night. :?
If he's suspended, why was he an emergency?

Probably was never going to be used and the club wanted to throw a red herring out there to stop the media getting too curious..
