Casboult to the ruck seemed to improve things in the 3rd QTR.

Thought the same - casboult had a poor game but his impact in the ruck and willingness to chasse and tackle were good.

Gibbs, armfield and hammer - very good signs.

Disappointed that we lost given that we had a few opportunities in the end to win - we certainly didnt deserve to win though. Played like crap for most of the night

Can I also just say that there was a time there when we could not get a free kick for arm chopping or in the back

Very frustrating

also the 50m against Duigan....WTF.

well damn!

Almost stole it.

Kruise was very good, as was Gibbs.

but it in the that first half was crap - I think MM would have been happy to be 2 or 3 goals down and come over the top but we were poor and slow to begin with.

Brock as a sub?

I hope Bell gets a game.

And Laidler

And maybe try hendo CHf cos we need a lead up.

Thought Lucas was pants.
Gibbs a fantastic game and very instrumental.
Our 2 x 1 picks
1 x number 2 pick
and number 3 pick Juddy put us in with a chance.

Imagine what wed be like without our tanking era???

Either Casboult or Hampson and not both.
Warnock should be given a few games as number 1 ruck wed have won that game with Warnock as the main ruck. Maric was crap.
How does Duigan get a game??
Keep playing Bootsma in the midfield......

A match we should not have lost. MC made critical mistakes in not selecting Bell and Laidler imo.

Not even gunna mention Tricky Micky ... :hitcomputer: :banghead:

Really do need to take a "big picture" view of where we are going and the changes that are being made.

Anyone remember the criticsm Ross Lyon has copped in his first years at St Kilda and Freo?

You could see the hesitation in their decision making and ball use. My hope at the start of the year that we would reach half way at 7-5. If we do we will be in a very good position. I expect our second half of the year to be a heap better than our first half.

MM is also sorting out who will make it and who wont. He is also getting big games into talented kids. Bootsma will benefit hugely from tonight. MM will back kids like him in. Personally I think thats great and will benefit us in the future. It is guys like Graham, Bootsma, Menzel, Watson etc that the improvement must come.

IMO Duigan is not up to it and Tuohy is struggling. Jamison is overrated and McLean is so slow. There are others on our list that can play their roles better than them.

How is that news?

I have been saying this for a while but our bottom 4 - 6 players let us down continually. Duigan and Tuohy have been rubbish for over 12 months now. I have faith that Mick will iron out these problems. Hallmarks of his previous teams has been consistency throughout the 22. We need this desperately.

At least Gibbs is starting to finally show what he can deliver. Now need Murph to step up as he has had a pretty slow start to the year.

There was a lot to like tonight despite the end result. Unfortunately there was also a lot not to like.

That 2nd qtr was woeful. And creating the chances to win (good) but failing to make the most if them (bad) was bitterly disappointing.

Overall, meh, early doors. But if we didn't come back I'd have been a bit more upset.

Gibbs was excellent, but a but selfish at times in front of goal. I'm sure Mick will iron that out pretty quickly.

Odd fact, the first three games this year have all been lost by a team which has kicked the first three goals of the game.

Our midfield just isn't good enough
Kreuzer great but not a centre bounce ruck. Warnock needs to play
The sooner we put lines through duigAn, McLean Joseph and play kids the better
Betts to the middle and walker was great coaching
We just are not a top eight list

I am convinced that Laidler is not 100% or they would have selected him. It was fun to be there when we were catching them and very frustrating that we wasted some big chances to steal the game. This thread would have been very different if we had won. It would have been soooo much fun to see the Tigers supporters having a fit if we had scored that winning goal. Damn.... Need to work on clearances and put Walker up forward with only one tall.

Thought McLean was ok in the last... quiet like many others in the rest of the game.

Wouldnt be putting a line through his name yet.
Joseph and Duigan .... just very average footballers with a not a great deal of upside.

Carrazzo was back to his circa pre last season...
Played with one tall too many....

not overly worried.
MM stil experimenting with positions obviously.

casboult will take ages..........
weve got Laids, Scotland, Waiter, 208, and Ellard and Rowe (not to mention Lil' Buckley and Menzel to look forward to) to play around with to see who will play in the september action.
thought Boots was commendable actually.
5-6 of our blokes played amongst the worst games ive ever seen them play..........
5 or 6 of their blokes were phenomenal
and we shouldve won on the last kick at goal but yazz wasnt the usual yazz tonight either - im sure the report wouldve thrown him too.

in mick we must trust

and the worst missed decision of the night was when Vickery (i think) stuck his boot into the face of one of our blokes to fend him off when taking a mark in the 1st half, stuck his foot in his face like a flying karate kick
