The more I think about the more I see the reasoning. He's good insurance for Cotchin or Nahas.

The other we need to watch is Edwards. Has the ability to turn a game and kick multiple goals. Touhy is probably his match up.

Like to see Jamo on Reiwoldt & White on Vickery with Henderson forward. If it keeps raining swap Bell for Hampson.

If we can shutdown one or two of their keys and keep a high intensity around the ball I think we will win well.

Eh? Am I missing something? I didn't think White was named...

Whoops!! Hendo will have to stay then.

I am still surprised White wasnt picked.

Well I WAS surprised there isn't a 3rd tall back of any description.

Of course seeing as I didn't sit on the MC, I obviously lose the right to be any way way critical of any selection decision, or contemplate/express any misgivings over potential mach up issues.

And so NOW I believe this 22 to be the very best 22 available to take on any match-up Richmond can throw at us. :)

I dont mind boots joseph is another matter Mick talks about the smartest 22 - on the evidence shown so far Joseph is not a smart footballer
Our nightmare tonight is if cotchin is up forward joseph plays on him -= cant control guys like milne not in the same suburb as cotchin
Did well on Ablett once and that legacy seems to get him a game about 5 years after the fact
team is not that strong if he is still getting a game -obviously hope he proves me wrong but he hasnt in the past

Looks like we've gone for a very speedy lineup with height not such an issue in the wet.

Joseph, Armfield, Bootsma, Yarran, Betts, Garlett, Judd, Murphy, Simpson, Carrazzo, Tuohy, Walker, Lucas.

That's some serious leg speed. We'll run them ragged.

So I've been getting pumped up for the first game of the year and MW says to me last night "We're heading straight to *family friends* tomorrow after I get home at 7"
"Will they have the footy on?"
"You can record it, they're going away for Easter and we won't be able to see them until they're back."

We've happily gone months without seeing these friends in the past :banghead:

Come on Wojee, there's got to be a workaround. If they were true friends they'd be having it on the telly, with minimal conversation!

I am going, tension levels starting to rise a little.

I remember so much talk when MM was with the filth about how well he supported his young players and how well they rewarded him for doing so. By contrast Ratts was thought to "murder" the kids.

So now Mick shows some faith in a kid to do a serious job and 80% of posters howl about it? Make sense .... not really. My hope is that Mick has given Boots very simple and specific instructions that he knows he is capable of following ... and has made it clear that this is all he has to do to keep his place in the team.

AJ's an interesting one. I could never figure out how he kept getting a game. I assumed Ratts had an unreasonable bias towards him. Now I'm thinking may it's me with the unreasonable bias. He does do some good things. It's just when he tries to exceed his limitations the stuff up leaves a lasting impression. Perhaps Mick has given him the same sort of message. "You do a) b) and c) well and your spot in the team is safe ... leave the d) and e) stuff for Murphy etc".

Haven't most of us posted about the importance of picking the players who together with form the best team?

Did well on Ablett once and that legacy seems to get him a game about 5 years after the fact

I don't mind Joseph with cotchin if we are smashing through clearances.
everything hinges on clearances and contolling the midfield.
win that and we won't lose.

simple!

..tigers do push their goal kicking mids [and they have a few] deep fwd, i think Army might be best served to follow them from midfield to defence if they do.. ..but then they'll be down quality in the middle and we've been the much stronger clearance team over the past couple of years [better with the 1%'s too by a fair margin]..

..and the ol' Malty hasn't lost his first round 1 game at a new club [yet]..

..i've actually got a good feeling about this, best mids played thru the middle, krooz fit and firing, betts and garlett looking sharp.. ..and hammer or bolt to hurt some defenders..

I know Kevin Bartlett is an irrelevant old coot.

But the hypocracy he is displaying by objecting to Brad Scott who called into question his role in the media as an "entertainer" rather than a serious football journalist just beggars belief when he goes around tipping Richmond to win by 96 points in tonight's game.

You can't have it both ways Kevin either you maintain this stupid media schtick and seriously do believe Richmond will win by 96 points but when Brad Scott criticises your role and dismisses you as an entertainer you can't get all miffed and insulted.

Seriously you are a tosser and a Lou Richards you are not.

AJ must be in for Cotchin. Good. Better than using Carrots in that role.

Hmmm....and when Hardwick sends Cotch down to rest in the pocket, it'll be time to go to the fridge for that next beer, because I'll need it :yikes:
