I think Henderson is our best option for Riewoldt.

For what it is worth I would have Bell in the team for round 1. Tossed up with White or Laidler for the third tall down back however IMO Lailder is a better reader of the play and natural third tall defender knowing when to leave his man and ability to intercept. I also think the backline seems to function better with him in the side. With Rowe Casboult and Kreuzer there is options for the ruck and ability to change players around up forward. Judd off the half forward flank as we ease him into the season.

Being a night game with possibly a wet ground you would expect it to be tough in the clinches so Garlett may make way for Curnow. I considered Walker or White for the full forward post and although I don't like the idea of Walker continually playing from behind ended up going with him as he can also play in the midfield giving us more options so White as the sub. Laidler Armfield Touhy Duigan Casboult Bell Robinson Mclean to feed it out to our runners.

Armfield Jamieson Laidler
Touhy Henderson Duigan
Simpson McLean Lucas
Garlett Rowe Judd
Casboult Walker Betts

Kreuzer
Gibbs
Murphy

Robinson Yarran Bell
Sub White

Good team. Maybe not have White as sub and use another running player.

I like the idea of using Walker as the 3rd tall forward rather than 4th and playing another ruck. We will have to hope Casboult can hold down relief ruck but i reckon he can.

I for one doubt I'll care less as to who is picked, as I trust MM to make the right calls.

What they do on the field is another matter.

Having Waite out is just such a massive loss.
Hampson is a spastic up forward, let's be honest. Whilst Casboult isn't much better but sure can take a mark.

The problem is, when faced with the number one defender, the player not long off the rookie list rightfully struggles. He played his most promising games with Waite next to him. He also takes the defensive pressure off Walker.

The same as it has been for the last season and a half, we can generally get it into the forward line enough, but with no forward presence it rebounds out easily.

This would have to be the teams biggest flaw. Waite and Judd are the two we miss the most and have been crucial to Carlton in the past few years

I think you have it just about right ... except I believe MC will pick Hampson or Warnock ahead of Rowe.

NB: Lucas will not stay long in the team if he does not improve his decision making and disposal.

Oh Yea ... someone has to make way for Carrots. I would probably say Duigan out.

pfft... not eligible this year, so why would he play?

The only thing we can say safely is that there won't be three ruckmen. What a mess that was.

Casboult looks to be ahead of Rowe, Hampson ahead of Warnock. I hope/trust Laidler will be ahead of White (although White looks vastly improved on previous years, no doubt that's fitness driven).

I hope they find a spot for Bell. Richmond's midfield isn't lightning quick, Bell should be able to lay a few decent hits on them.

Yep ... I really hope Bell is in the Team. I reckon thats why they only gave him half a game with the Northern Blues.

And I really hope we've got a plan in place for keeping Yarran at half back and not get sucked back into the goalsquare.

It was frustrating how passive we were with that tactic in the GF.

Hopefully no half efforts by Yarran in the goal square if he does

I know against Brisbane bomb it long didn't work! Mainly because of man mountain merrett ! But I reckon Casboult would out body most of the full backs in the comp! Tigers only have rance!

Derrrrrr,,,,,
Fancy missing carrazzo from the team. Who makes way.? IMO it would be between yarran and Garlett and I have to say I was disappointed with yarran in the night grand final so garlett gets the nod. I think the coach said some things are non negotiable and even if we put the cue in the rack and the team was saving themselves yarran's effort was poor

They also got Chaplin from Port - he will probably take full back which frees up Rance.

Don't think it will matter as we will kick it to a 2 on 1 with Eddie being the 1 anyway........

Guys bomb it long is not the game plan, I have admired mick and watched his coaching for along time.

It was just a very poor execution of his game plan.

My worry is form and fitness of Murphy and Judd
