Have upgraded to a reserved seat for this game. Got tickets in M6 near the goals in the Southern stand. Anyone know if this is our cheersquad end or Richmonds?

That sounds like ours kezza. :-)
I have CC reserve ticket in Bay M9.
Let's hope we have reason to cheer eh?

Thanks for that. I would much rather sit amongst "friends" than be near the opposition.

Making predictions on this forum can be frought with danger -- you get them wrong and somebody will remember.

Anyway, I've got a strong hunch that we'll be hearing this late September :

"Carlton Vs Richmond ... 3 Votes ... C. Judd".

Carlton V Richmond Grand Final and Judd wins the Norm Smith medal.
They are some bold predictions.

Rd 1, I'd go for something like this:

Tuohy, Jamo, Laidler
Yarran, White, Duigan
Simpson, Carrazzo, Lucas
Garlett, Henderson, Gibbs
Betts, Casboult, Walker

Kreuzer, Judd, Murphy

Inter - McLean, Hampson, Armfield

Sub - Robinson/Bell

Duigan only gets a game as no Scotto and we need a bigger body back there without Hendo. Can play tall OK, too.

Hendo only plays fwd in the absence of Waite.

That is a very talented team, should win well. The game is at the G too, we are always so much better there. The boy Lucas will appreciate the wide spaces there, on form deserves to be in the 18.

I think we'll lose by less than a goal.
Our midfield got smashed by a bunch of nobodys last week and Richmond has a star-studded group of mids headed up by the man we should have picked at #1..
The only thing that may save us is that this is on the MCG and we have pace in all lines.

Tickets seem to be $36 reserved
Or $15 member upgrade

Does anyone know if this is the new 2013 standard price?

Or is this the 'blockbuster tax'?

I expect Richmond to go in with:

B Rance Chaplin Morris
HB Newman Griffiths Houli
C Grigg Cotchin Deledio
HF Martin Vickery S.Edwards
F McGuane Riewoldt King
R Maric Tuck Conca
INT Ellis White Petterd Vlastuin

Looking at that line up, part of me wants to play three rucks (or rotate Casboult through there and play the extra forward).

You either: a) Tire Maric out, b) Force them to play Vickery in the ruck more often, which gives us the option of double teaming Riewoldt, or c) Change their line up and bring in Stephenson, who is shite.

The flip side to this is thinking they're probably going to finish off better than we will. The effect of the interchange rotations against a team that didn't have this issue remains to be seen. Is this better handled by forcing them to take out an extra runner and play the extra ruck? Or play the extra runner of our own?

Our small forwards usually tear them a new one. I expect Chaplin to go to Betts this time around. I don't think they've got a lot of small lock down defenders, so the mooted idea of Buckley getting a game perhaps has merit. Do we bring him or Dale in, and exploit that instead, and get the extra run as the sub?

Gut feeling says three rucks, but only if the fitness base is there.

IMO Rhino you can't ever play 3 rucks, we need the runners to make contests the big men create (Casboult, Kreuzer, Rowe).

Friday night showed what a top heavy lineup does, the Freo game showed what a balanced lineup does.

That IMO was a plan in the Pre-season by MM to see what worked and what didn't.

Great side IMO
but Robbo better than sub

shame bout Ellard was showing very good form prior to injury.

joseph/curnow - still a way off

would it be worth entertaining Rowe or 206 as sub???
in case of big man replacement emergency?

With the present style of play, I think it's going to be difficult to pull off week to week. If a team like West Coast win the flag this year based on a overly tall forward line, I think we may see a paradigm shift where 3 rucks is a necessity to combat it.

At the moment, taking advantage of a team like Richmond either by tiring out Maric by double/triple teaming him, or forcing their hand at the selection committee to play the extra spud tall, I think it's worth the risk if we have the superior fitness base.

I reckon that side's pretty close to the mark, but I'd have Robbo in the starting 21 and either Armfield or Garlett as Sub.

If things are going badly, we could see Walker moved to defence and either Yarran, Duigan or Tuohy pushed up the ground or subbed off, and/or Hendo & White swap ends.

I'd have Warnock in my best 22 but I get the impression that Hammer will get first crack at it.

MM doesn't strike me as someone who plays his best 22 in round 1 either. I think he'll play his fittest possible.

Taking that into consideration, and Juddy's performance in the NAB Cup GF - is it a fait accompli that Juddy's playing against Richmond?

Sounds silly to even contemplate, but, reckon it's plausible Juddy fronts for the Northern Blues for a half this week.
