Great call. The only next generation player who could attempt to fill Judd's shoes. And, now our most important player is secured.

Who cares about media, care about the on-field stuff. He'll deliver that in spades. Go murph!

..agreed, have always been thinking it was better to give to it Murphos, though for a while it looked like Carrots had the gig.. .for me, it's less about Carrots' age, and more the family life responsibility conflicting with all the extra curriculum captain's duties.. ..also, from a pure playing ability view, i think Murphos as an individual and team player, will grow more from being captain, while Carrots already plays as a pseudo captain..

..and hell, the Murphy's are very good captains, lets hope he's as good as his pops was as a captain hey..!!,.

I love Murphy, but im a bit worried he wont be able to handle the pressure. I would have much preferred Carrots be captain and let Murph continue becoming a great footballer
I hope im wrong, go blues!

Not impressed. Murphy seriously needs to improve his media skills. He is our representative on camera, and i always fibd him stilted and unconfident. He has more than enough time to develop this.

If he can lead on field and the sponsors like him does anything else matter?

naive to think media skills arent vitally important these days in selling the club - Murph needs to improve in that area and i'm sure he will

He's not that bad, is he?

He will improve as you say, so I'm not sure what the drama is on that front.

Seems pretty confident in front of the camera to me.

Apparently Carrazzo turned it down, presumably as be has his hands full with triplets.

I say go Simmo, we had the biggest win under him!!

It's all good. We're lucky to have a choice of three outstanding young men to choose from. But in the greater scheme of things - it's not that important. IMO.

Big congrats to Marc and to the Club for making a sound choice.

I'd have been very happy with any of the 3 options put forward, but I have to admit, I think the Malthouse / Murphy combo will work especially well for us.

Agree on the quality of the options available to us.

While it may not be hugely important to the playing group, for the club there is a certain cachet associated with the position that the captain needs to rise to. Just as there is for the president and other important positions, so it is important that the right person gets the gig.

I think any of Murph, Simpson or Carrots would have been suitable selections, which is one small sign that not everything at the clubs is cabbage. And now we know that Murph will be our new captain I'm rapted.

On-field Murph did a sterling job last year when he took over from that nasty chicken wing bandit.

There is a certain inescapable symmetry about it.
