They only hand out a couple of cups during the year. If I had kids I would get them along, who knows when they would have the chance to see Carlton win any kind of cup, and I doubt kids would be too fussed what cup it was.

Alas I am not going this week. Finally FINALLY getting the HD package added to Foxtel so this will be a good game to road test the new picture.

According to my CFC calender, it is b'day nite for I Am Number 4 and Levi.

We should win this. hope it's a great , injury free game for both teams.

the only thing that matters is the future which starts in 2 weeks

to be honest I would be more inclined to go and watch us play an interclub game at Prinnie Park

This comp is bullshit and its only about the AFL sucking up the arse of one of Australia's leading banks who rip off customers and have a shit load of money anyway

as for the AFL

ruled by the dollar

the fact that this game is being played in Melbourne and not Queensland is totally wrong

will i watch it
no
I will be having dinner in the CBD building up my carbs and proteins before seeing the Mark of Cain at the Hi Fi Bar

clearly break up sex wouldn't be on her radar

I like to see Carlton win every game they play just like I did when IO was a kid.
I got terribly upset when one Carlton team lost against the other in the intraclub games.

I'm flying into Melbourne on Saturday morning...yes well...I know its not a Saturday night game anymore. DAMN.
Thank goodness we made the GF because at least I can watch and judge them on TV this Friday night.
What a privelege.

Agree glorified practice match - agree with BV should give those who were due a rest a rest - pick the best of the rest -win another game at etihad at which we have a very ordinary record - get another semi -serious games playing the malthouse way - a good build up to first game - adelaide loss helps us in the sense that havent got through unbeaten - Lets see who is the frame for round one hammer or knockers -lets see how lucas and levi do in another semi serious game - another game hopefully for Tuohy - can Hendo regain some form ? Can hammer /levi be our 2 main forward targets

Am I going why not - gone through alot in last 10-12 years in terms of team performance -why not get some joy and win comedy cup and if not at least made it to GF

And whilst it is a glorified practice match series didnt adelaide and west coast play off last year - wouldnt mind having a similar season to them in the regular season

We know what it is so why can't we just enjoy watching the guys have a bit of a run around.

Brisbane though are going to be giving it everything, as they need to pull out every trick to get their waning membership back on track.

Wants for this game:
Henderson to start extending himself as he may still be cautious after his op.
Gibbs to play the bulk of the game in the centre.
Judd to look good in the short time he may be on the field.
Carrazzo to take his captaincy on with zest.
Casboult to smash another few bodies.
Lucas to not kick a ball out on the full.
No injuries.

Good call harker.

Just on Lucas. Boy he looked like a winger/HFF on Friday. Exceptional composure when he was kicking for goal (with one exception in the last). really opened my eyes to the idea that we need him getting the ball forward of centre as much as possible.

What impressed me most about Lucas was for just how much ground he covered. (At least watching on tv)
Kicking goals one minute and then deep in defence the next.
The guy can run all day and that won't be lost on MM.

If Mick tells the boys that they can do it, he'll take responsibility for ensuring that to be the case.
We didn't quite have that before and is why I'm really looking forward to the seeing how some of the boys come-on under the new regime, as some of the development work conducted through the VFL was nothing short of abysmal last year, I'm sorry to say.

Agree with you on Lucas' coverage, although perhaps strangely, he showed a lot more composure when he was in space kicking for goal than in the heavier traffic around contests in the backline.

I say strangely because in my mind it's more typical for players to over think what they are doing when in space and kicking for goal, whereas their field kicking around the ground is usually more accurate.

If Friday night is indicative of Lucas' skill set then we want him on the end of the chain, not starting it.

Hmmmmm........lets see now. Here's our choices......

Do we play a practice game at Princes Park for nothing infront of 2,000 and sell a few snags

or

Play a practice game at Etihad infront of 25,000 with national TV coverage. With a chance to win some minor silverware, excite the supporter base, increase the supporter base, get our Sponsors on TV, have a solid hit out before round 1 and pick up a sizable amount of free money win or lose the game?

Stuffed if I know Keogh.  I might just have to toss a coin to decide what is more advantageous for the Club as a whole.

Much as I love MoC and I would be there if I wasn't at the Neil Young show, I think I'll at Ease has disintegrated some thinking cells.

If you put aside you left wing rants about big brother and people with money you might actually see it is a win/win for the Club.

Enjoy MoC.

Come on CM, you should have planned ahead and gone to Neil Young's show at the Plenary on Wednesday night like I am. Disappointing from you, I expected better. :)

You make good points, but in my defense. ............

I bought the NY ticket at RL before I knew about the MoC gig and the Plenary. I was thinking about the Plenary gig also but now I have to work so that stymied that idea.

I have checked the NY/MoC start and finish times hoping MoC would not come on until about 11pm and I could rush there, but it looks like they might be on around 10pm. At that time NY should be in full 'feedback' thrashing mode.

..and they're not the only ones, our membership numbers aren't too jazzy either.. ..i reckon once yer in the final, you ought to play your best 'available' team, and go for it.. ..it's a first up encounter of 'real footy' a round before everyone else.. ..usually round 1 matches are still very rusty, but we get a honest opportunity to blow out the cobwebs, and should take advantage of this..

..i agree that Hendo still looks a little underdone, so another run before the H&A start is good for him [and us]..
..it certainly looks like Gibbs is going to be playing predominately in the middle, as much as any prime mid gets midfield time with MM's extra numbers rolled thru there..
..very interested to see how Judd is used with the new coaching gameplan, we could very well see him start rewinding the tape in regards to playing style..

..i think Lucas is destined to play a Stevens role for us, more his Port days than ours.. ..he certainly motors about..

Wouldn't be upset if we got that setlist...

The old bugger can be eccentric with his choices, however... who knows what we'll get on the night.

The game should be in Queensland if this comp had any merit Cazz. Even your one Carlton eye would tell you that.
Nothing wrong with my thinking cells
You have chosen Mr Young over a potential piece of meaningless silverware so we know where your priorities lie
I simply cant take this comp seriously And why would I
half games
players rested
experimentation by coaches

the only interest I would have is seeing how youngsters have developed over summer
Thats it
the cup and money are tokens.
They are not deserved for such a pissweak comp

I just hope the boys dispense with the lap of honour
Just smile for the PR cameras
sing the club song and go off home to bed if we win

Anyway Cazz good to see your still breathing enough to reply to my communistic theories
much appreciated
And by the way I was talking to a mate who saw TMOC in Adelaide
Awesome Johnny Scott still has the angry pills

And you should have seen TMOC on Friday then Neil the next day in Geelong
Pissweak effort there

That's true to a point but at least ours have been on the up, whereas Brisbane's have been declining quickly.

We're at about 84% of last years numbers and will record our best ever membership tally (although still not good enough) and Brisbane are only at 74% and in free-fall.
