nah im saying you made a very poor call on Setanta seeing he had a knee reco 9 months ago.....

Its 2 years plus for Kreuzer.....

Kreuzer has played better games since his knee reconstruction than Setanta has in his entire career.

hed wanna... number 1 pick and all......

Setanta was good for BASIC structures in the modern game.
Huge value as a depth player.
Much more versatile than first rounder Watto
I know hes gone and its a mute point now.. cos he is gone!!!.. but saying he offers nothing on the back of a knee reco got up my goat....
We needed him last year to plug holes... and having to play big K whilst he was struggling with injury was just terrible and desperate!!
Enthusiasm is contagious.. and he never lacked that... whilst many on the list last season were flat out being flat and not flat out.

...This year is a totallly different kettle of fish... but as a depth player you never know when we might need him

Watched both games last night. pretty scratchy and most players rusty. Big Hammer took some nice grabs but appeared to struggle in the ruck. Hope Warnock is back on deck soon. Delivery by foot is still sub standard. Still don't understand how professional players cannot improve this part of their game. Big Levi really hits those packs hard and will be a presence up front - can kick as evidenced by his goal against GWS, maybe a concentration thing?
Still pretty rusty and really looking forward to seeing how MM brings them forward this year.

My opinion is that if we relied this season on a Setanta or a Thornton or a Bower to be the depth player, then we're truly in trouble.

I'm not satisfied with Watson as a depth player, either. At least not yet.

I would hope White, O'Keefe, Rowe or perhaps even Mitchell could be depth players this year. All have more upside than the aforementioned players in my opinion.

Agree but its horses for courses....

I think you need thirty players you can draw from and use at any given situation.
Grounds

Opposition structures should have a huge bearing on who comes in and out.

Think you'll find that Rowe is more than a depth player. Natural marking forward and good kick - something we've been lacking for a few years.

According to Fox Sports, Barry Hall has a clear, pleasant voice when talking through a microphone as a boundary rider.

..considering he's 25, he very well may have been more a ruckman when rookie'd by the swans years back.. ..he actually does seem to time his leap in the ruck contests with some ability, it's just at 198cm he's on the short side for a ruck.. ..does look lively up fwd, but handled himself well when floating down back as well so he could very well have been more a ruckman, with the ability to push fwd or back as rucks do..

I think the Rowe thing is an unknown.....
Not sure how anyone can say he is a lock in at the highest level.
if he is.. its great for us...."if"

And according to Dermott Brereton, Barry Hall is a good bloke to chat with about old times and ex-players when they were both supposed to be commenting on the game that they didn't seem to notice was being played right in front of them  .

Yeah Grro. An amusing one liner from Dermott that might have been entertaining at a sportsmans night but banter between commentating crew for most of the game that has nothing to do with the live game being covered is more than a little bit frustrating.

I remember last year being critical of commentators who were not able to name any of the new players in each side. I said at the time that they should not be paid the big bucks that they get if they are not professional enough to do some basic homework prior to the game so they can add value for the viewers.

We resorted to getting out the iPad to look up new players players on their club websites.

It was pretty funny when he got flogged by Spud in their stupid quiz though. You'd reckon by now, at his age, you'd be beyond throwing tantrums, but apparently not.

It was.....my Wife said many times...."why don't they tell us the names of the players involved in facets of play?''......they never did.

I said....."Bruce.....come back; all is forgiven''.........

Was watching part of the 1995 GF on another thread, bring back Ian Robbo and Sandy Roberts-just commentate the game. The interviewing of a player through half the game ( in all games), is just simply aweful.
