Agreed. He could change his name to Selley because all he does is fill gaps.

Would he have been better last year than Bower? Possibly. But neither would have changed anything.

Great news. But I reckon Levi was lucky.

Noticed Murphy crap his pants a bit when he bumped late in the marking contest and quickly stopped and threw his hands up. Then the opposition player got up and played on. Not even a 50.

just the kind of stuff the MRP loves to get involved with, though.

So Synbad....you must think we should've kept Setanta; going by your comments.

Who do you think we would drop to make room for him?

THIS is exactly what we've been lacking. A big 100+kg forward who can take a clean grab and also hurt opposition backing back into him.
Defenders will think twice about getting into his area if he can legally crunch some packs.
Couple this with the athleticism of Waite and the speed and pressure of Eddie and Jeff etc and you have a bit of a package

In saying that i feel for Buntine. ouch!

..he'll be a brute that's for sure, but i watched the dee's on fri-nite and i reckon Hogan is an even scarier proposition..

No, he was a mild joke according to the Smug Brigade because he couldn't kick.

I'm still standing by that. In the under 18 game I saw last year, he kicked like Levi Casboult. I'm not sure that I'd be drawing too many conclusions on the basis of one nice goal. After all, even Levi occasionally nails one (often the 'harder' ones too).

Yeah, and even Casboult is alright according to us.

My point is, I'd rather a freakish talent with one biggish flaw than a player with a lot of little 'ifs' about his game. You need players you can build your side around rather than simply hope that your game plan is better than the opposition. It's just a pity he'll be wasted at the Dees.

He got back to have a run after 9 months with a knee reco...

Nothing chalk and cheese about Kreuzer back with a full year and struggling... and Warby uses this pre season game run around as proof we dont need him....

that was bizarrO

You're using half a game in the NAB Cup to write off Watson.

So what's the difference?

imagine if Setanta had played after recovering from something as debilitating as testicular cancer.

Setanta still makes the same basic decision making errors you don't see in a footballer. Plays on after marking and sprays the kicks.

Setanta was in the process of tearing us a new one when he injured himself last year.

Still love the guy and wish him all the best, but preferably not against us.

Watson cant touch his toes.
He cant run
He has no agility
He has no endurance
He doesnt know how to place his body in a contested situation
He is has terrible combatative skills on the ground.
He shirks the red zone.. and prefers to seagull.
He lacks enthusaiasm and zest for the game
And understands nothing about defending ..... even though he has been a defender all his breathing life playing AFL footy

Setanta was agile..had endurance and pace played with great zeal.. and never 0nce shirked responsibility.. played 90 odd games.. and a chance to play 100
Thats not bad for a champion hurler....

I bet Watson wishes Ratten was still coaching. He's in for a long year and plenty of cross-posting I reckon.

..very good effort that the big Setant' was fit and ready to compete by the beginning of the nabcupnuts.. ..should we of retained him?, possibly yes.. ..but i think he should have, in the same way i think Thornton should have.. ..we have little depth in regards to talls that are proven AFL competitors.. ..we've got kids that look promising, but that's now, not then in regards to the irish.. ..also our talls, both established and kids, aren't super durable so another versatile tall with experience would have been nice to keep on the list..

..also, i think ridding our list of experienced talls would have been good if we'd have continued to draft talls, buts thats a whole 'nother issue/subject/discussion..

..however, i would agree it's a little chalk and cheese, for two reasons Synners.. ..obviously Krooz is a far better player, but more's the point yes it's been 1.5 years since Krooz returned from the blown knee, but he's had foot issues not long after, and then last season early in he tore some of his meniscus.. ..so yes he has struggled, but he's not been fully fit for the majority of his time returned from the ACL.. ..fully fit Krooz is in my first 5 picked players for the team.. ..and in regards to our other rucks, Krooz can still compete manfully when underdone, where'as the other two simply cannot.. ..this goes for Setanta as well, he needs to be pretty much 100% to bring anything decent to a game..

..i don't think we need Setanta, but i think we should have retained either him, or Thornton,, for their experience in regards to our depth.. ..obviously, neither of them may have wanted to hang about knowing they'd be depth.. ..i can dig that..

..but for a team such as GWS, both of them will be very good.. ..for us, pretty much only as depth, and even then there'd be times we'd use a kid before them as well.. ..but i think in general Setanta needs some patience, he's come back early i would reckon from doing his knee, and we know more than most that he is prone to brain fades.. ..he'll get better as he plays more games..

Kreuzer has played better games since his knee reconstruction than Setanta has in his entire career.
