These where all supposed to be fixed by the move to TD within 5 years.....or atleast that is what you where saying.....

But of course it's all Kernahan's, Ratten's fault or it now Sir Richard's & Mathieson's fault?

Explain what you mean Surrey.. dont just toss fairy balls into the wind and expect those to sense.

Explain yourself.. and then i shall address ypu when you make some kind of cohesive sense.(For the millionth time mind you... but some people get it fast and some dont... im patient )

Now what is it youre trying to say..... cos i dont get it..

If you read my posts previously on this matter and would know where I have added value.
The AFL are playing us a nice ol tune (60K membership this time) and our supporters are falling for it hook, line and sinker, again!
The goal posts seem to move to accomodate them as they please continuously and I am now starting to think that our supporters are too stupid to recognise it or maybe even our club leaders are too weak to stand for CFC rights or even both.
All I know is that the once powerful CFC money making machine at PP, is no more and has become an also ran team within the telstra dome club environment surrounded by the StKilda's, Bulldogs & Kangaroos of this world.....
I don't want my club to end up on the history legend with these clubs but it seems some in here and maybe even out there are more than happy to accept it!
End of rant.

This a point that has not been further developed. This is a critical point, Carlton has been "mixed" in with these poor Clubs and we have therefore been pulled down to their level by association, finance and loss of home ground advantage. Its unacceptable why clubs like West Coast, Geelong and Sydney are entitled to have a home ground advantage and others like Carlton cannot.

Bingo

Wow, just wow!

Carlton being a "big" club, that is supposedly better than these so-called "poor clubs", is not a god given right bestowed on us. We turned ourselves into a mess through totally inept administration and had nobody else to blame but ourselves. Indeed, it was precisely because we were such a mess that we had little choice but to move to the Dome.

I can't remember anyone suggesting it was the best long-term outcome, but we needed the money. At the time, we weren't in a position to be thinking long term. No way. Have you not heard the comments from several sources stating how shocked they were at just how bad our finances were? If we were a bona fide business we'd be assembling now for the 10 year anniversary of losing the club.

Keep living in dreamland if you must, though.

The home ground advantage discussion, really, almost 10 years later, people still don't get it. That shows such an alarming inability to grasp simple facts about the AFL competition, especially in Melbourne, that I can only assume those suggesting this as a future goal are taking the piss.

Who controls the fixture?

Ahh, never mind.

Decision was foisted upon us at the time Club had absolutely no room to move - AFL desperate to have Carlton at the HAD - nothing anyone could do about it -AFL after smashing us with salary cap decision had us by the proverbials - no ones fault - no grassy knoll conspiracy with Collo as lone gunman :screwy: - just the AFL being bastards PURE AND SIMPLE

I don't know why the club would bother .... surely people in TC are soooo much smarter. Some-one please pass this on to our administration.

I like Etihad, especially for night games in winter. A quarter full MCG is no great shakes. We should be in a position to get a much better deal, but I have no probs with playing interstate clubs and home games ag Bulldogs, Melbourne, North at Etihad. I don't quite understand the vehemence at Etihad as a stadium, I know the deal is ordinary, but as others have pointed out, we had no choice. I loved the old days at PP, but now, it is hard to get to from the South East compared to Etihad or the MCG, and we won't ever play games there again. Also the capacity of the MCG is a little overstated. While it might hold 100,000, how much of that capacity is taken up by the MCC and AFL members?

If we want to play more games at the MCG, how about we qualify for a home final occassionally, they play them at the MCG.

gerry I just hate the feel of Etihad, guess it comes down to personal preferences, I actually don't enjoy going there.

I dont mind the G
I dont mind Edihad
I didnt mind PP when we played there.

But i could never blame Etihad cos we have become an average club.

And i certainly wouldnt use making people buy memberships as an excuse to get to the G

The club is what it is for a number of reasons.....
The club must get its shit together.. and then it might get 60k members.. and then maybe it will get itself to the G... but it needs to get itself back up to recapture its former glory.....

Read the last line my friends...

Although 30K is not big enough for Carlton, we should ask the Board to push hard for a 60K Princes Park.

Tried that... didn't work

The likes of North, Bulldogs, Saints etc all hated playing home games at PP and money going to Carlton. Attendances were poor... lot's of wahwah from the fans to their respective boards.

Fantasize all you like but PP would never have been a viable and accepted 3rd AFL venue... ever... it's Carlton... everyone hates Carlton.

The only other option was for us to fund the stadium upgrade ourselves... needed $50 mil plus... we built one cheap stand... you know the rest.

So what have North, Bulldogs, Saints got to complain about?

They had a good deal at PP and they shat on it.
Now they have The Dome Deal, and we got dragged into that perhaps indirectly because of those 3 teams.

Tough titties you pricks.....they were played iby Evans', Samuels' and Collins' devious plan to screw Carlton and anyone who associated with them in terms of revenue to the club.

I tried to not post in here again but just can't help it when someone within TC finally says something like this and gives me a glimmer of hope that not all our supporters put their heads in the sand. :thanks:
