Sadly I do agree with on that we are another club currently and will probably never be the club we were.
Sadly our kids will neve enjoy the Navy Blue club we enjoyed either. That is the saddest part and your right, Im over it and have been for a few years now. Unfortunately but certaintly frustrated by some of our supporters and club overall who don't and won't see it.

Take it.. go to Geelong... or alternatively tell us where Carlton will get the 50 plus million to build that.... keeping in mind we already are 8 in the hole... plus for 3 games (the interstate teams right?.. the GWS ....GC....Port games)
Makese sense..

and Geelong is another city Surrey.. its why they got the money... were not another city from Melbourne.. actually youll find we are in Melbourne....and there are already 2 stadiums that the games are scheduled in and there isnt a use for a third for a couple of games.. costing us millions... in fact wed make a loss paying that off and playing 3 or games...

And yes ... you can always buy your kids the DVDs....

do you live on the same street you were born in Surrey???
Play in the cubby house you played in.. burn the leaves on the street in autumn... and get the milk delivered too???

And dont keep bringing me up here "Keogh and Synbad brigade blah blah blah" if you dont want me to bite....

Thats one way of winding me up... and be careful.. be prepared... if you do...cos i WILL pick things apart .. turn it every single way.. poke it.. prod it.. and stay on it...

Actually holds above average capacity

And dont forget....anchor tenant Collingwood,,,, dont even play all their home..games at the G.

so in fact were barking up the wrong tree again.. if we think thats gunna make the difference...

Im guessing next contract.. one game... MAXIMUM absolute MAXIMUM two at the G... with the propaganda to get people to sign up or without.. wont make a difference

What do you think???

That's the part I don't agree with BV simply due to the fact that no senior figure at Carlton had any idea about the change to the Communications landscape in the last 10 years. They had no clue, but presumed Ian did. The fact was that he was a pretty good 90's media manager and a lousy GM - Communications. He fell into that role based on seniority alone - not because he understood modern day Communications methodology. Blind Freddie could have seen that last year we had a host of competent people employed - but Coutts was their boss. Greg Swann was under the impression Coutts was doing a good job!

But thats the perplexing aspect Doc. How many years did this bloke spend in the role?
There are people on the board who manage multi national corporations yet they couldnt see the failings of a department leader?
How can that be when a host of average supporters can openly identify the deficiencies.
It should be the role of a competitive organisations leadership to create an environment where innovation and industry leading improvements are an absolute expectation.
Its also their role to regularly monitor and review those progressions.
Obviously Swann and the board have failed miserably in this case.

The bottom line is this
sorry to say it again but

THE FISH ROTS FROM THE HEAD

I have slightly more optimism than Synners but it still frustrates the hell out of me that Kernahan is our leader still and will be for another season.
there does need to be a complete overall of the board
A board that Synners has well and truly proved has peformed terribly
It also frustrates me that Craig Mathieson is on the board.
it also frustrates me that the Pratts are on the board

The wrong people at the top and its all downhill

As I pointed out to Doc before Geelong turned things around when Costa and Cook came to the club.
The new grandstand should be named after them

Cook/Costa
Sticks/Swann

no comparison

I'd actually say that Synbad has more optimism than Keogh

“Hope is not blind optimism. It's not ignoring the enormity of the task ahead or the roadblocks that stand in our path. It's not sitting on the sidelines or shirking from a fight. Hope is that thing inside us that insists, despite all evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it, and to work for it, and to fight for it. Hope is the belief that destiny will not be written for us, but by us, by the men and women who are not content to settle for the world as it is, who have the courage to remake the world as it should be.”

I'm not going to get into another discussion over this with you Synbad but enjoy CFC at etihad as another also ran if you wish but don't come in here crying about the club every 2nd then if you don't accept current situations for what they are then.

And what were we doing while Essendon* was clever enough to swallow the bait dangled by (the then) Colonial Stadium? Redeveloping Princes Park.

That went well.

Nice one Doc, BO would be proud.

I'm still not used to seeing MM associated with us.

Nor am I kk (as per my analogy on the matter on page 30 of this thread)...

"Seeing him in Carlton colors is akin to going to The Cavern Club in Liverpool to hear Paul McCartney play some Beatles songs only to get an 80-minute set of Wings songs. I'm hopeful of witnessing greatness, but I'm well aware it could also be a massive let down".

...which would be made even worse if McCartney's encore was "Wonderful Christmas Time" where they sing the chorus "Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time" nearly 666 times, suggesting they are trying to open a portal for Satan to return to the world.

If we're lucky we may pay-off the Legends Stand in our lifetime...

Not sure what all the fuss is about Etihad... I like the place... just not some of the fixturing, and that's hardly the stadiums fault.

Who wants a third AFL-sized stadium in Melbourne. I know I'm out of town, but can't say I've heard any rumblings.

And if the league, or the imaginary fairies, really do want a third stadium why didn't we play a long game and hold off at Princes Park when it was clear that Colonial was going to go ahead. Perhaps if showed some longer term vision your pie in the sky might just land on your dining room table.

Apologies for being so

Wayyy off topic now fellas (nothing new in this thread), but there was no option for long term vision with regard to Princes Park being a third 'boutique' stadium....UNLESS - the AFL controlled it. That would probably mean shared facilities with another club and far less of an HQ than we have today.

The third stadium talk doesn't really exist today. There is so much history and bureaucratic bungles associated with VFL/AFL stadium planning and use over the last 50 years, that this topic would need it's own thread. Would make a decent book I reckon.
