Stephen Mayne and I are going to crash it. It's not quite 'Wedding Crashers', but it'll have to do.

I spoke with a Consultant last night.
He works on strategy for growing huge Corporates...banks etc.
I've worked with Consultants on Board level and Middle Management in the Corporate world.
So I have had some exposure to Consultants in my time.

The Consultant last night (mid 40's) is the oldest in his league.
He said he has to stay ahead of his game and puts in a lot of hours to create a result because the general attitude towards consultants is that they are generalists and cost a lot of money without taking blame for execution.

So, there are some good consultants, but just like in every field there are mostly avreage Joes.
And usually, if time permits, the answers are right under the same same roof as the Board: the people on the floor....after all that's where the Consultants gain much of their empirical evidence.

We collectively have a better idea of what Carlton needs than an average Consultant, just as we know more about Carlton than the bloke trying to sell me raffle tickets who pretends he knows about Carlton...or pretending to be a Carltonian to get my $$$$$.

Apparently a consulting group was set up to consider the recruitment of Andrew Boston.

Hi all and my apologies for taking some time to reply to this. Thank you all for your support and the many responses I have had from so many of you over the past few weeks. This experience has been invaluable to me, and I have learnt many things from your posts – both the positive encouragement and the critical feedback. Particular thanks to camelboy, harker, DocSherrin and all the others who were especially welcoming from the start

After reading your responses to my video and blog, it is clear that I have a lot to consider and think about over the coming weeks, months and years.

Thank you for engaging me and speaking honestly about your passion for the future of the Club. I hope that when I return from my Christmas holidays, I can get on with the business at hand. However, I am wary of creating any conflicts of interest or confusion with my official position (I have already received feedback to that effect from others involved in its management). Therefore I will need to scale back my individual online presence - however, you can still reach me at askruffy1@geminderholdings.com.au. I have a lot to take on from my experience in these forums and although it will take time, I am hopeful that I will be able to return to you with changes that reinspire pride in the Navy Blues, always sooner rather than later.

A lot of you have said that we need to beef up our engagement, and become more transparent with our members and supporters. The Club recently held a forum with online fans, which is a strong first step towards that goal. I hope this is the first of regular forums, hosted by the Club, so that the voices of members are always heard.

I will be taking a brief holiday and therefore will unable to monitor online discussions directly. I strongly encourage all of you, to make sure that your opinions are always heard, by posting on the official websites and the CFC twitter page. Also wishing all of you and your families a joyous festive season and a safe and happy New Year.

Thanks Ruffy,

This is a learning curve for not only board members and staff, but for supporters as well. There are many supporters who are wary of the board suddenly listening to members because they don't believe any affirmative action will be taken. It is important for supporters to have a voice - not just at AGM's, but through sessions like last Tuesday night and through contact with yourself. While you didn't exactly nail the brief - your efforts in instigating this should be applauded. I would strongly encourage you to leverage the expertise of the communications staff at the football club. Foremost, they are the professionals in this area. Secondly, anything communications related emanating from a board member, unless otherwise stated, is automatically perceived to have come from the clubs communications department. With the assistance of the staff at the football club - there should be no reason for you not to step in front of the camera again.

The open dialogue, engagement and transparency being promoted by board and staff alike should encourage more supporters (if done correctly), as we get closer to the football season.

According to club, these were returned to office.

Marcus Clarke
Ahmed Fahour
Raphael Geminder
Stephen Kernahan
Luke Sayers

Surprising that Kerna made it considering how much he has stuffed up.

Are you really surprised though? People are voting for Sticks the CHF and Captain, not Sticks the Chairman.

Sticks has had an admin career of stuff up and continuing on like nothing happened

We delude ourselves into thinking that Carlton supporters are smarter than the rest. Here is proof positive that its not the case.

Let's not delude ourselves that TC is representative of Carlton members or Carlton supporters though. We're all sort of Weird al Jankovic-ish. Except you & TBB probably, and camelboy.
