He did not answer a few of my questions and perhaps they were a little sensitive. I did ask him whether he wanted to be President and got no response.
I'd say he has started his Presidential campaign.

I remember The Dragons doing a good job raising a supporter base from nothing quite well. Ruffy would have relevant experience to improve the club.

I'd say he may have well ended it.

We know we won't have Sticks as Pres next year, so why not start lifting profile now. Makes perfect sense to me.

While this was a great concept. The hard issues were not addressed. Only the light fluffy easy issues were talked about.

We need clear answers to our concerns and a plan. Yes or No, and why ?

Hopefully the hard issues are at least being discussed behind closed doors, but this is what we mean by communication, there is no real passion out there. Only empty promises and then nothing.......

Good on you for putting yourself out there ruffy.

You mentioned earlier that the decision to become involved in supporter forums was of your own making. Do you know what your fellow board members think about this, and are we likely to see your approach followed by others?

There is nothing in that except Ruffy making himself known to those that dont know what he looks like.

Ruffy... its a tough crowd mate!!!

Work on something tangible...and make that crystalize into something meaningful that will benefit the club.....

I was secretly hoping that Geminder would mention Marc Murphy's amazing marks like Graham Smorgon.

from nothing?

The dragons took over the licence from the giants/titans - there was a long history of multiple NBL melbourne teams and a strong anti-tiger melbourne basketball fanbase

wouldnt have taken much at all really to establish a solid fanbase naturally for the dragons from ex giants/titans fans and the anti tiger brigade.

and we are talking about a sporting organisation here that started in 2006 and lasted only to 2009

a period that , yes, saw them win a championship but it wasn't exactly smooth sailing for the dragons over their 4 year stint in the league.

Mark Price was a bust, Heal was a bust, Timms was a bust, Molloy was average and so too their import recruiting.

Goorjian pretty much won them the flag

I'll give them the fact that Basketball in Australia was going through an upheaval during this time but the dragons is hardly a glowing point on someones resume.

Unless of course Ruffy can convince Joe Ingles to leave a lucrative contract in Barcelona and be rookie listed by Carlton...

LOL - Joey had a Euro career high 22 points the other night in a big Barca win - He aint going anywhere (but the NBA.....maybe)

If Ruffy can pull off Ingles to Carlton then he can have automatic presidency :P

I have lived overseas for nine seasons, off and on. I've been a member for years before that but last year I got sidetracked and then just lost interest in renewing. I'm one of those Synbad mentioned. Looked at my membership as a donation at the club. I won't be renewing again this year because I have the same feeling many of you have expressed, that the club is not interested in the supporters. I went to PP a couple of years ago and was appalled at the lack of service and interest in the shop. I waited an hour for someone to fetch a key to a cabinet that (It turned out) didn't have what I wanted anyway, A flag that cost about $130.
Two other things happened in recent years that annoyed me.
My grand daughter went to Bellerive Oval on a school tour and was greeted by some Hawthorn people who gave every kid in her class a swag of cheap Hawthorn stuff. They are everywhere in Tassie, while Carlton used to be but now isn't interested in sending senior people down there even to paid functions.
The other thing was that I received a call from a call centre asking me if I wanted to renew my Hawthorn membership. When I told the girl I had never been a Hawthorn member, she apologised.
"Sorry about that. I just forgot we were doing Carlton today."

Anyway, I exchanged my membership last year for a subscription to Big Pond's overseas TV stream. It makes no pretenses about valuing my support. It just takes my money and lets me watch the football.

Sound familiar?

Everythng that is about the average supporter is tokenism from the club

No offence to Ruffy but that reeked tokenism and lacked sincerity re grass roots Carlton supporter... but was all about Ruffy...

And again.. its hard to believe that one of Australia's richest families rubbing shoulders in the Carlton bubble understands what the Carlton supporter feels when there is this massive disconnect.

Richard had a way of getting people excited....giving them genuine hope.... but that has evaporated in my case when Richard couldnt involve himself anymore.

Eddie is a Broadmeadows boy.... lives in Toorak now .. but he is a Broadmeadows product and a Collingwood fanatic!
Everythng he does ... is wth the Collingwood army in mind....from top to bottom....

Im not sure we understand all that....we have a false bravado "Were Carlton @#$%&! the rest!"// which is great if you have the capability to back it up...shithouse when its very stuffed suit ......

The rest is a kind of boys club ...more board members than players inviting themselves on and closing it (the cllub )off to others.

Ruffy , my advice is to pay attention to what people are REALLY saying... and not what you think theyre saying or want them to be saying if you wish for this exercise to be fruitful.

You said it yourself ... "a million Carlton supporters".... how many are you tapping into?

It may be a good idea to give people a chance. No?

The steel-capped boot approach may have value in some circumstances, but this isn't one of them.
Ruffy, on behalf of the board have made their objectives clear so it may be fair to say, "Let's judge them on their achievements and not a video delivery"

Maybe Ruffy may pop in to say "Hello" to you next Tuesday. You are going, aren't you?

To be fair he had a lot of questions across all sites, it would be impossible for him to answer all questions, from all people. A lot of questions are being repeated as well.

harker its not really up to me to give them a chance... ive MET and KNOWN alot of THEM over a long period of TIME and its been same ol same ol.... Ruffy has been on the board a couple of years now....

its really up to them to give us a chance.....

If they dont get the message... well they dont get the message...

and no im not going....

its a digital media social media thinggy... i have very little in expertise to help in that area...

ill leave that to others far more qualified than me.....

If they wanna know where (I) think theyre falling over i always lend a hand ....

Personally id be fixing up the falldown and restructuring and building that bridge first and then sprreading the digital media message...

But theyre right.. some dont feel a bridge is needed and can always be lassoed in....theyre the ones theyre targetting IMO

As for me.. i wanna see proof and then ill rejoin the fold... i sure im not the only one....

anyway... what would i know???

At best guess, you know plenty.

That's why I think you're input would be invaluable but then again, what would I know?

Sorry guys, but some of you enjoy negativity too much.

The ask Ruffy thing is progress. What did you expect in the answers? Solutions to all problems? Be realistic. Key is that Ruffy now knows that issues around interstate memberships and the general disconnect with members and supporters are key concerns. First step is that key members of the Board are made aware of these concerns and I think this has been achieved.
