Given that previous comments have stated that a Member does not have to complete all boxes in the ballot form, by leaving boxes not marked, could this expose the ballot paper to tampering?

Who are the scrutineers, are they independent and how many do we have?

It works.

So it scares the shit out of me to hear a board member admit that they're mystified as to why they can't get more Carlton supporters to sign up as members. Actually that's not the way they frame it: they seem to think that the onus is on the Carlton supporter, and they're mystified as to why more don't become members.

The board should be mystified as to why the club's executive isn't competent enough to entice Carlton supporters to sign up. Stephen and Board: you're looking in the wrong place. The answer is much closer to home.

The club is as far removed from being the kind of customer-centric organisation that attracts consumer dollars, as it could possibly be. You are nowhere near it.

It's not the supporters. We're no more or less apathetic than Hawthorn or Collingwood supporters. It's just that those clubs try to put the supporter at the centre of things. Carlton keeps its supporters at arm's length, as an afterthought to your operations.

Businesses that do this, and rely on consumer sentiment for growth, are doomed.

Can you PLEASE find a serious marketing professional... and a CEO of a business that relies on consumer sentiment for its growth (ie, not bankers and lawyers) and get them on the board please? Think CMO's of FMCG's... not owners of family businesses, etc.

This is embarrassing.

This is absolutely spot on!!! It's called market segmentation - part of a Customer Value Proposition which delivers on an organisations' customer promise.

By the by - Raphael Geminder has started a thread on CSC "What can the Board do better" asking for questions that he will put on a Q&A video he is putting together.

I wont quote the thread - but its easily found if anyone wants to have a look.

You might want to invite him (and/or Luca) via twitter (@askruffy). If they feel as though BF and CSC forums will suffice - then I'd suggest TC is in fact chopped liver. I'm not convinced their answers reside on social media/footy forums - rather a combination of members responses, their own strategic plan and what their contemporaries and others are doing. No need to reinvent the wheel here. Just make sure the right wheel fits your organisation.

Although wonder if is this an admission that the 'The Ideas 4 Carlton project' didn't work? How much did the club pay Deloitte for that? Nevertheless, have to applaud the proactive stance. Better a board member do this than a pseudo General Manager Communications.

Doesn't really matter if it pertains to Carlton, does it?
We cross-pollinate enough through these boards anyway, don't we?

Happy to see Ruffy and Luca willing to stick their heads in and open themselves up for interaction. Good on them.

Done.

And I note his followers increased quite a bit after I sent out a few retweets. Hopefully we (members/supporters/etc) can get our thoughts across, whatever the medium/forum.

They may be small and belated steps but it's still nice to see the board working out we're in the 21st century now.

Thanks, Liam. I tried signing up yesterday but had some trouble before, still getting used to how all this works.

As most of you already know, I am trying to get a bit more involved with other members in forums and on Twitter. If you have any questions or thoughts I'll do my best to answer them. I have already gotten a lot of responses from other forums so it will probably take me some time to read them all...

Sorry it has taken me a bit more time to get to this forum but I am here now

Apologies Ruffy, we get many spam accounts, which is why account approvals are done manually, and I may have inadvertently deleted your account from yesterday when I did my most recent cleanout.

Thanks DocSherrin, definitely want to hear your and other TC members thoughts. Want to stress that this is a personal initiative of mine to get more in touch with our members - hopefully this will help me serve Carlton better in whatever way I can.
