There's always a "u" after a "q"...Culquhuon.

The name Reimers won't quite go away just yet and we can all but strike out Garlett.
All still somewhat of a mystery but it looks as though we may go and have a nibble into the PSD and take one rookie to see us out.

I'm very happy with the three picks we have added to our list. Midfield runners and good ball users is what we needed. All of a sudden we have real depth.

As for the two remaining spots we have many options.

If we can get a player like Colquhoun or Nelson it would be tempting. However, getting Temay we have enough smaller type players.

I would seriously look at Joel Tippett as a rookie. This kid has talent and more than his brother. A late starter to the game he was used primarily as a ruckman which he wasn't suited to at AFL level. He has settled as a key defender and has taken to it very well. He is a big unit and can take the bigger forwards.

The other options to be considered are:

Josh Toy - I'm a fan but the heart condition is a worry

Lucas Cook - talented and a better environment may help

Jacob Surjan - ready to go and can fill the small defender role

Steven Salopek - Gun kid and has played some very good footy. Coming to a better club and being part of the 3rd to 4th rotation will make it easier. Big body will help. I put Bate in the same position.

These days you need a good 30 to be a threat. Bring in some experienced big bodied players will help and take the pressure off our kids. We are still a young list. They wont cost much, will be desperate to prove themselves and will have a defined role under MM.

..out of that lot i'd aim for Colquhoun and Tippet..

By my count we have 38 players and 4 rookies now. Now I thought rookie lists had dropped back to 4 now the GWS/GC favours have finished?

List in total has to be 44. Can be a combination of 40 + 4, 38 + 6 or 39+5.

I've heard there will be no PSD selections & 2 rookie spots (1 of them belonging to Collins).

I had your list balance confirmed to me today.

I have done some research and you are right, the rules regarding list balance would drive a bloke to drink. I got told today that the list proportions are flexible in that the total can't be more than 44, but this is also confusing because the source said depending on Veterans listings.

One thing that he was certain about was that the clubs decide how they want their balance to be between Main List and Rookie List. He said it could be 38 and 6, 39 and 5 or 40 and 4. If this is correct, this will impact on who we can take and in which draft? Keep in mind that Bell and Curnow have been named as Nominated Rookies and can play all year if selected. O'Keefe and Dale will have to rely on LTI's to play Seniors at all. With these 4 Rookies and the 38 that remain on the Senior List, we have 2 spots available. It makes sense to Rookie list 2 players and bring that list to 6. Maybe Collins will be one of them, if 2 gooduns aren't available.

To confirm our current list and status, I have pasted a copy of same and you can make your own mind up as to how we will jump. Cheers! ;-)

Are you missing someone Brissy? That's 3 spots open with Collins maybe.

Yeah, I missed 37. It was Nick Heyne from the Aints, who was a Rookie, but was cut.

Had me there for a while KK. There are 46 numbers. Assuming the numbers are right for Temay and Graham, there are 3 blank numbers plus Collins....so: 46 - 4 = 42. Therefore there are 2 spots to fill total to bring it to 44. Capishe?

I thought they have got rid of nominated rookies for 2013, ie if you are on the rookie list you can't play seniors barring LTIs?

Given the clubs indifference on Collins, expect him to be given a 4 year contract

If you have less than 40 players on the senior list, you can have nominated rookies to fill those spots
ie you can have:

40 + 4 (no NRs)
39 + 5 (1 nNR)
38 + 6 (2 NRs)

I think we are all really confused by this. I am sure i heard Andy McKay quote somewhere about nominated rookies. I was of the understanding that because we now have 2 veterans we can no longer have nominated rookies. Is it because we will have less senior players and extra rookies?
Anyone? Does anyone know how this works?

My bad, just read Stamos' post above. Thanks for clearing that up. If that is the case then wouldnt all clubs go down this path? If you can have extra rookies then wouldnt if make sense to use this option for salary cap space? I think i am right in saying that only half of rookie base salaries are in the cap. So effectively a rookie can be paid more but some of it is excluded.

On $350k per.

You see, the way to make the most out of Free Agency is to sign up ALL your players NOW, and make sure you are paying them overs.

Anyone who tells you you need more than 3 draft picks a year is delusional. Just remember that, NBH.

I read in an afl article that Brock Mcleans contract has not been renewed. Is this true ?? If so this would be amazing. Not needed in our team too much of a liability both on and off the field. Loves the media attention and will bring us down again. He was not on the Arizona camp!! Doesn't matter who you are you go on the pre season camp with the boys what excuse could he possibly have to miss it. A holiday?? See people?? Pathetic in my opinion hopefully malt house sees his ignorance and self desire to be known in the world through any means possible eg. Twitter and stupid comments on tv. He is not a team player hopefully we will never see him again with all the new kids we have through the midfield. What a glorious day Carlton with no Brock would be

Re-signed last month on a one-year contract, with a performance-based option of a second year.
