Quote:
The Carlton Football Club’s disappointing 2012 season was reflected in the financial figures released today with the Club announcing a Financial Net Loss of $683,799.

“This is disappointing but importantly we have made a number of important and tough decisions that impacted significantly on the 2012 financial position, but will benefit the Club on and off the field going forward,” Carlton CEO Greg Swann said.

“This is the first time in six years we have not had an operating profit and the turnaround is from two areas; match returns and termination payouts. With the coaching positions now finalised and with the ongoing support of Carlton people the Club expects to return to an operating profit in 2013.”

The other major impact was the termination payments to various members of Carlton’s coaching staff. Importantly, the 2013 coaching panel is now less in number and as a result will be less cost to the Club.

I thought we had a pretty good run with surgeries this off-season.

“This is disappointing but importantly we have made a number of important and tough decisions that impacted significantly on the [insert year] financial position, but will benefit the Club on and off the field going forward,” Carlton CEO Greg Swann said.

"Importantly, the [insert year] coaching panel is now less in number and as a result will be less cost to the Club [when we sakc them]."

Too hard to resist having some fun with those copy and paste comments from Swann.

so we've now got an 'asset deficiency' of $8.13m, up from $5.48m last year

*sigh*

I would assume that the payouts are around $800 K in total. Even taken that into consideration this is a very poor result. We had some very good crowds. Even with the drop. Seems to me that we only make a profit if we make the finals.

This is Greg Swann's failure. 6 years at the club and how has he built the CFC business? He's ridden on the back of Pratt and Mathison's generosity.

Numbers can be spun anyway you like, and Swanny suggests these numbers..I mean operating LOSS...is going to turn out just dandy for CFC.

Hey flower, we're still hampered by a debt level which costs us $$$in interest, so its not just the Principal you @#$%&! spin master.

I worked at a high level in the Corporate world and we could make our share price rise and rise with the more spin we gave it. This i no different, Swanny wants to keep his job and tell everyone he's doing a good job....piss him off I say.

This is all spin.
Swan is the biggest loser in all this....well he gets paid so really Carlton and its members are the biggest losers because we have Swan.

Have a look at the 'newish' revenue stream. Yes gambling, and see what it did for the bottom line.
How could he fail so badly with that extra funding?
Imagine if there was no gaming revenue.
Does anyone still want him?

And Swanny WAS the best available when he was recruited....really? Seriously tell me what has he achieved?
Does he have any fans? Have a look at our debt level. How much revenue generation has he been part of? He's a bean counter. I'm not getting sucked into his spin.

I'm not happy with this result....and I'm not giving him my $ next year either for him to piss it up against the wall and tell me how good he is...just the same as I'm not voting in the next election for 2 idiots, and I am not going to pay any tax next year either...maybe a little...but why let those politicians have my doe when they skim me with BAS PAYG which is wasted on ....Abbott and Julia and the half wits who run this country....same at Carlton.

First profit loss in 5-6 years...what a joke. Not acceptable. No excuses....and we were on the way up from a position where we couldn't go any lower.

Can't believe with all those new porkies on board, and we make a loss. Wonder what Bruce is thinking?
