So AFL knows and have previously signed off on it? Geez can't afford any more issues.

I am hearing that this has all been hosed down today. Might have something to do with Fitzy asking Vlad, exactly what does Ando do for us again? I was told that we will be right as far as the cap is concerned for 2013, but have to adjust the way it is treated in future years and not just for Juddy.

Of course Chins, will take credit, even though it will be business as usual.

Let's just say it's just getting a bit messier.

Club has admitted other players paid by Visy but nothing on the scale of Juddy and says no rules were broken.

Pretty sure this was public knowledge.

As far as I was aware this is all "Chester" Anderson did:

It would have been smart if Anderson and the AFL initiated an end to the third party deals after a certain year and time frame and given to the clubs to have the chance to clean up their situation but they have made a mess of this have surely got themselves into some trouble, legally they have no authority to change or bar the agreement set out especially the given short notice to the club. I hope Anderson gets the sack or something cos he is a grade A imbecile.

The way Eddie is carrying on you would think Collingwood get no advantage in the draw each year. You would think they didn't play on the MCG 11 games in a row to round out the 2010 season.

You'd also think they are very pure in their player paying arrangements at Pie land. Eddie would want to make darn sure he has his house in order, plenty of loose lips in AFL circles..

A poster on Bf posted this information on the main board there. Of course they all a field day about it. Adrian Anderson was on radio this morning and asked about these payments. They are above board, these are payments that players get for going out to schools and are mininal payments. It does go to show though that clearly journo's do read these forums.
AA also mentioned that Judd's deal ended in June this year. So not sure why we led to believe that the deal still had time to run on it.

I think a quote from players association executive Matt Finnis sums it up perfectly.
"And where you have got a disparity of up to four or five million dollars in football department spending across teams, those kind of numbers make the payments approved to players as independent agreements pale into insignificance."
Thanks for pointing that out Ed.

I'm curious to know more about these 'opportunities' Eddie spoke about to entice Cloke to stay.

Perfect example of troll journalism which is rife these days. I'm sure this journo will get pats on the back for all the internet hits and talkback attn.

Wouldnt we all love to know. To any journo's reading this, how about making this your next project. Thats of course if Eddie agrees with it, he is running the show afterall.

Presti you are on the minimum wage this year because we don't have the cap room to give you more. Don't worry when you retire you can run the Collingwood shop for 300k a year.

Judd will be ok. He could just stop being the ambassador for Visy and put it out there that he is up for an enviro ambassador gig at any company that wants one with a high profile.
He will make close to that Visy money easily elsewhere.

Storm in a teacup.

The issue here is more to do with the AFL making rules up on the run.

'Spose the issue here though is - as the Tippett scenario as proven - how hard it is to document these sorts of agreements.

What's stopping someone like Rohan Kerr saying he was promised a Ben Holland-esque block of land in lieu of player payments and holding it over the club's head? What's stopping the club having memory loss toward a gentleman's agreement should the finances suddenly go to shit? What if someone like Troy Broadbridge or John McCarthy had these deals in place before they passed away?

Imagine if a player agent (lets call him Dave Allison) became vindictive toward the club and started holding it over the club during each season's negotiations...

Helps though when you've already picked up 10 mill from the club though..
