Pg 54 - "In addition to the above amounts, players earned $1.93 million from employment and marketing arrangements with associates of clubs."

Not only Judd has an issue now.

My understanding is that Juddy is engaged as an ambassador for Visy. If he actually puts in x number of hours per week in this role he is entitled to be remunerated.

Retrospective legislation. Won't stand up in court. The AFL has angered all the clubs (except Collingwood) over this because there are 157 third party deals across the entire comp.

They'll back down in the face of pressure. Problem is, they have to sort it out before the draft.

Your kidding aren't you BS? Why would they have to sort it out before the draft? They are allowing both the crows and dees to participate with very strong salary cap and draft tampering allegations hanging over their heads.

What I want desperately to happen is for someone to dig thru fat ed's trash and find some 3rd party deals in there. You can't tell me the filth's list is made up of straight payments.

Clearly police protection against criminal charges for 70% of their players not to mention free tattoo's is part of the extra player payments.

Good point Hulk, the Cloke deal is interesting.....God knows what they would of had to do to keep him after we pumped up the price.

Another interesting snippet from The Age today:

"The question at the heart of the investigation is whether the club actively sought the money for the trio and whether it informed the AFL it had done so, given clubs are NOT allowed to establish third-party deals for players under the AFL's total player payment rules."

God, i hate Eddie Maquire. I hope the AFL find some of Collingwood's players 3rd party deals now have to included in their salary cap. but of course if they do it wont be until 2014 and they will have plenty of time to work it out.
There is really only one thing the club and Judd can do now. Judd's contract runs out next season, he should extend it another year and adjust next years payment so we wont be over the cap.
Doubt too many players would be too happy having to have contracts backended.
This is so unfair and i wish someone from the club would come out really strongly about this and not just sit back and take it. MM is right, we have quiet players and this flows on to our administration.

I have it on very good authority that a certain Blues backer is seething at this action by the AFL and is prepared to open the purse strings and back a legal challenge, no matter what the cost. Combine that with the AFLPA doing a number on them, this could get really ugly!

Expect the ALFPA to threaten to withdraw the services of all players until the AFL cave in. One thing we can be assured of, is the amount of money offered to beat the AFL, could open up pandora's box on the legality of their supposed pillars. The lawyers are gunna love this stoush. Restriction of trade is soon gunna be a dead duck. This will also spell the end of a number of clubs as we know them.

Pressure is on at AFL House:

"As Adelaide's sloppy handling of its player contracts and the AFL rules continues to emerge publicly, the fallout continues to spread with the policies and decisions of head office itself now the subject of increasing scrutiny."

Good to here Brizzy. It's about time we got serious about this. We've been on the back foot far too often in the last decade with regard to the AFL. It's time to see what the AFL will do with us having a real go at them for a change instead of crawling up their arse.

I can just imagine the meeting between Eddie Maguire (EM) and Adrian Anderson (AA) going something like this;

EM; Hi Adrian, Ed here. Listen i am not happy that Carlton beat us twice this year and i want you to help stitch them up.
AA; Ok Ed, what do you want me to do?
EM; I know this deal between Visy/Judd has been ticked off but i am ticked off and want you to stop it and make Carltank have to include it in their salary cap.
AA; Thats a bit unfair Ed, they have just re-signed their players and would have to adjust contracts to do so. It is legit and we have ticked it so dont think we can legally do that.
EM; Did you hear what i said. That mob beat us twice and i wont stand for it. They also have now pinched our coach.
AA; I thought you sacked him.
EM; Dont answer back i am talking.
AA; Sorry Ed. Okay i will do as you ask but you do realise i will have to look at all 3rd party deals now.
EM; No need to look into any of ours, all above board.
AA; Isnt Daisy doing some ads for Adidas?
EM; You are not listening, ours are legit. No need to look into ours.
AA; Ok, anything else i can help with? Were you happy with your draw for next year, did you get enough MCG games. Sorry we had to send you to Perth. Do you remember where Perth is?
EM; Yeah, not happy about that. I am sure we will find it, somewhere out west isnt it?
AA; What about your clash strip, do you want an exemption?
EM; No, stupid people dont realise our clash strip is the same one we wore in the 1990 GF.
AA; Anything else?
EM; Just one more. Jump.
AA; How high.

Can anyone confirm if Judd still had a year to run on the existing Vist 3rd Oarty deal. Caroline Wilsons article says that AA terminated the agreement on short (no) notice with a year left to run.

Earlier pusters on TC were of the opinion that the deal still had a year to run but then other posters said it had expired and Carlton had asked for a renewal. Either way it is shoddy treatment by AFL to say the least.

Unfortuneately I can see a court battle looming with Judd and Tippett (and numerous others) on the same side v the AFL.

AFL will back down quick smart at the very threat. There's no way they want any of their rules going anywhere near a court. No way banning players earning a buck outside of football is legal and the most restrictive form of restraint of trade. with 3rd party issues that pertain to the TPP the AFL may have to back down.

Corruption runs deep within the AFL walls. Don't expect them to roll over on this any day soon.
In other words they will use every means possible to threaten and intimidate AFL clubs to get what they want.
As much as I hate the way all other clubs left us out to dry all those years ago, I hope ALL clubs stand united to fight these particular deals.

AFL and the girls running it are not as tough as what they appear to be.
Demitriou can laugh off the suggestions as much as he likes but it goes to show who blows hot air.
Some sour grapes and a threat from McGuire and they bend over and lubricate.

Now they will cop it from every angle.

Redback - we all know McGuire is very influential due to his media contacts/bullying but Demefroot and comp. will do whatever is possible to not have this escalated through the courts. Even if it means threatning clubs and individuals. Having said that I'm sure some clubs like McGuire and other would no doubt get into bed with the AFL if they knew they would be protected when needed. It's a corrupt, corrupt organisation and stinks all the way from the top!!!

Look the deal should of never been allowed

Major sponsor and board member paying a player outside salary cap is comical but changing the ruling during the agreement is ridiculous
