Heard an interesting story about this game recently, this might have been discussed before, it centres around Robert Walls. Does anyone remember how he played in this game, specifically whether he was carrying an injury??

Only remember it for Armstrong not playing; Balme's despicable act on Southby; and Big Nick being knocked out by the Melbourne reject.

You don't recall if Walls had a hand injury of some kind? Or if he had an average game?

The whole game was a disaster.....from memory; no Armstrong or Keogh our 2 best rovers; and we brought in the very promising Vinnie Catoggio for his first GF; and he got severe stage fright; and was a passenger.....Gary Crane; a wingman, became first rover.

We had an ineffective Coach (Nicholls) on the ground with concussion......and of course; the Southby king hit from Balme......a disaster best forgotten.

Wallsy kicked 2 goals but wasn't a star.

Who is this Dominator you talk of that played in 1973?

Anyone else heard a story of Wallsy injuring his hand the night before?

Thanks for the unnecessary sarcasm.....have you never made a mistake yourself?..........

I was getting mixed up with the First Semi Final vs C/wood in 1980.....I can still see him running off the ground as though it was yesterday.

Not about Wallsy when Big John went down the G shook and our chances of winning nosedived
ps the balme assassination of Southby (one of the fairest to play the game) was one of the dirtiest acts I have ever seen on a football field

Well you can read my mind and I can't read yours.

That is a special talent you have.

I thought it was a pretty reasonable question but then again if I could read your mind I would have known that you would have been thinking of the First Semi vs C/wood :screwy:

That lace out pass from Bob Chitty to Mark Athorn was pretty special though.

The only vague thing about this puzzling post that bears any remote reference to the discussion is that Athorn played in the 1993 GF; and Chitty was a dual Premiership player in 1938 and 1945.
