Watson's the one for me that can realistically make a big difference in 2013. It will effectively be his third pre season and I expect a fair change in body shape and speed.

If he can do that and hold CHB we will be a much better side.

He will have to be doing a lot of work in Arizona ........... a lot of work.

I hear he's no good below the knees :donk:

Nice to hear Curnow (interviewed on the CFC website) mention that the Squida looks to have returned from his break looking fit.

Looking atthe video Mitchell did look fit but couldn't tell if he was in better shape than last year's preseason.

I hope he had the same 'tractor' operation Tex had the last time his shoulders were repaired.

I think the key move for 2013 has to be Yarran to midfield. I think with Judd getting older our midfield grouping is looking quite one-paced and we need some pace outside of packs to make this team work - now Yarran needs space so the challenge will be in forming structures to facilitate that. A secondary challenge will be replacing yarran in the BP / HBF when our list seems devoid of good young mids / defenders. It may be that Armfield is moved back again to make this work but I dont see much else on that list.

As much as i hate to say it, I think Boots is a big risk to get the chop after this year.

Yes, there are things he can do and do well, unfortunately, it's what he can't do that is his biggest problem.

I look at the players Neeld has moved on from the Dee's and a lot of them were tall skinny kids. Neeld is a product of MM and I just don't think he ( Boots) will ever have the body shape to play a MM style of footy.

No chance. As undeveloped as he is Bootsma has already shown more than the spuds who got cut from Melbourne.

It's not impossible I guess but neither is winning Tattslotto this weekend.

What would bring you around to thinking that?
I have no issue with what he is capable of but I have no idea what's between the ears. If he's good there then we have a good one on our hands, that won't be going anywhere, anytime soon.

Hope so. Seems like nice kid and he's from a footballing family.

Just reckon he'd want to be make some big strides in his defensive game before 2013 is over.

Just has some deficiencies to overcome. I don't think we'll be hanging on to players for years hoping they'll come good anymore.

Armfield doesnt have the footskills required IMO Molsey. If Yarran is moved up the ground, we need to replace him with someone who can use the ball well.
Perhaps Buckley may find a role there occasionally. The other option is O'Keefe.

Armfield has proven to be the player who makes space with speed to give him the time to steady.
His disposal by hand and foot over the last 2 years seems very good. Very good.
Some of his runs from backline to forwardline and even goals has been nothing less than phenomenal...Yarranesque.

I'd prefer to have Army on a wing.

No fear. great tackler, tenacious...what is it that MM loves in a player? Never say die. Army has that too...in spades.

I'm not convinced by ROK, only because I haven't seen enough to be convinced after 3-4 years, but I can see the core strength and foot skills he can bring to the table. I haven;t seen the pace some seem to think he has...I've seen him try and break tackles to break lines and fail at senior level...and I don't see him possess Yarran or Armfirld like pace.

I have a feeling MM is going to love this guy, and because MM gives everyone on the list a chance (if they deserve one) he may be the one who finally takes the step.

I'm really excited with what MM can do to this list regardless of what anyone thinks of MM.
I have spoken with so many Carlton supporters who actually hate MM and can't stand the idea of him at Carlton.
I don't like him either, but man, he has the discipline gene and that's what this list needs.

I have a feeling he's going to shake things up because of the standards and expectations he sets for everyone, and it will be the players who fail to meet them who fail, not the other way around.

Yarran was still playing forward at the end of his second season.

Strange and premature comment to criticise Bootsma who will be just 20 at the end of next year. :?

Boots already has shown more ticker than Mackie who wasn't that great early on, but turned out to be an inspired selection.

God help us if we overlook Vlastuin and Garlett to pick Jaksch or Stringer who might take longer to establish themselves than a hard mid or outside runner. :yikes: :screwy:

Not a patch on Walker's runs, let alone Yarran's.

Armfield = Toovey.

Do not let him kick the ball unless he's standing still and absolutely has to put boot to ball.

I felt more comfortable with the ball in Bower's hands.

I don't think I'm being overly critical of Boots. I'm simply stating that Im concerned about his ability to compete against big bodies.

Doesn't mean he can't.

As for Armfields disposal it's improved out of sight and a comparison with Bower is not justified.

Just finished watching the Foxtel game.

Geez Army was great by foot, hand, leg, body and tackling.

Perception is reality. We see things differently.

And I think Bootsma will make it in the AFL.
Love this kids aggression and footy smarts.
He's definetely got the footy skills.

His old man wasn't skin and bones.
Have a look at his mother's side of the family.
They're not spindly men.
I reckon Bottsma will be almost size of Jamo in 3-4 years.
He's just a kid now.

What did you think about Robert Murphy after 12 months?
