Not sure these "too good to refuse" deals exist for assistant coaches, unless your name is Bomber Thompson.

I have no idea of his family situation, but maybe he likes living in Adelaide :yikes:

does not compute.....

So no-one wants to come to us as an assistant. Interesting. You would have thought we needed the assistants on board to come on the bonding trip to Arizona. Seems strange.

Well malthouse will be earning his $$$ because he'll be doing it all by himself.

I'm dumbfounded that we have Malthouse "out of town" whilst we have entered the first ever FA and Trade period since he became a Blue...well Blues coach. He needs to win us a flag within 3 years to become a Bluebagger.

But you'd think there would be a plethora of potential asistants (let alone footballers....from Collingwood?????...knocking at the door to coach under MM, and coach the current CFC list to glory. Other players aren't either.

The club is in the hands of Mick Malthouse for a reported $3M over 3 years and he has the Blue Ribbon Judd Murphy Gibbs Kreuzer Yarran and Waite finally under his control. I expect results...and I'm shitting myself we might @#$%&! this right up.

Drewgirl, we got Judd attracted to us.
Ummm...Laidler too! He was a good trade too. He wanted to come too.
Maybe the offers were too good to refuse for either.

Sorry to say, but since Pratty passed away we haven't attracted much other than Judd and Malthouse and neither have delivered us a premeirship for us yet, nor could those 2 alone get us a flag.... but they with a little help from our friends....where a the friends though?

It appears to me that no one wants to come to Carlton: players or coaches.
What a joke.
The penny has finally dropped! The brand is still tarnished.
The President and whole Board have failed. All of them. No need to tell me...but they're still all in charge in 2013...or MM is.
We obviously need a shake up at Board level too... we need a messiah.
Geeeezzzz I hope it is MM and Judd that can dbe the messiahs.

WE need a flag.

Oh yeah..

Murphy picked us over Brisbane Lions.
Stevens picked us over a Premiership with Port.
Gibbs wanted to play for Kerna ?: He IS Carlton
Murphy coming over from Geelong was the last player I can rememeber who wanted to play for us...well maybe he just wanted to come back home after the Silvagni incident.

Maybe it has got to do with how everyone else values our so called "Premiership window". Maybe I'm blinded by my complete trust, let alone faith that the Bluebaggers will deliver a flag this year...again..

Nah...still confident with out first 25-27 players...just don't trust injury.

Jamison, Waite, Kreuzer, Laidler now///  suffer from recurring injuries... Warnock and Hampson have't been able to stand up for 3 years....Brock, O'Keefe,,,there's more.....does it fill you with confidence. If it does, try naming a team without the 5 of the abovementioned....that's where I'm at.

I'm not expecting pick 11 or 12 is going to play a big role in the next 3 years ala Lucas and Watson taken at similar picks.

Carlton may have the next 2 picks earmarked for a couple of surprise ready made players...who knows? I doubt that.

Basically there's no change to last years list. Zip.....I'm living in hope....but love the first 25.

We have a somewhat unusual list balance at the moment where players we would have expected to have taken the next step haven't quite and others that weren't expected to do so, have.
Couple that with injuries to players not allowing us to see their development and potential, clusters up players, 20 odd to 35 odd as somewhat unknown.

We have had little by way of incremental development but have seen some go from zero to hero and others leaving us wondering where they will end up.
Leaving aside the best 20, we have something like this from my point of view.

e.g.
Zero to hero: Casboult, Bell, McInnes
Stagnated: Lucas, Warnock, Collins, Duigan
Injureds: O'Keeffe, Mitchell, Rowe
Young with time on their side: Bootsma, Dale, McCarthy, Buckley
Mistakes to have offered contracts to: Joseph, Davies

We can pin the tail on the donkey here, but we really don't know which players from those groupings are likely to step up as the development hasn't been terrific.
It's quite amusing this year to have seen some of our players have better games at AFL level than they could muster at VFL level.

Another thing that we have to remember when discussing our list is that we've had one retiree in 2 years now. Very unusual.
There is virtually no natural attrition so our only path for list replenishment is by way of forced delistings.

Having said all that I'm as concerned as you about some of our players that seem to be injury riddled.
Hope alone won't do anything so the club/medics have better got onto the cases and got these guys ready to go in 2013

Finding it a little tiresome people taking pot shots at a 21 year old who has spent almost a year on the side lines through injury and has played a total of 15 games .
He was thought good enough for the match committee to select him to do big jobs in 3 finals . Yes thats right 3 of his 15 games have been finals

Kid hasnt even had chance to settle and because he made a couple of costly mistakes we want to punt him

By round 22 next year if he can stay fit people will be eating their words about him

Are you talking about Davies and are you talking to me?

I'm not taking a shot at Davies any more than I would had have I been discussing Russell, Bower, Thornton or Kerr for that matter.
Thornton still may have been handy at times, Russell still has juice in the tank, Bower shot himself in the foot and believe it or not, Kerr can play but just didn't come through.

The point is that the list has to be turned over whether we like it or not and if you don't like the name Davies mentioned then take it out and put someone else's name there for which we can then have a shot at you for dropping it in.

If we had to delist another 2 players this year, who exactly do you think they should be?

Not you in general but this poor bugger cops it from all angles
Give him a go at least let him have a crack at 8 -10 games of footy before we cast him off
How anyone can judge someone as harshly as this bloke when he has played 15 games in 3 seasons is beyond me

Davies, Joseph and all other players for that matter now have a year with Mick.

Lot's of things can change in a year and I wish Davies as much good luck as I would for any other player that wears the Navy Blue (except for Grigg in recent times and Fev, post Brownlow)

yeah i wish davies could kick ... have composure... make the right decisions ... and not give away unnecessary free kicks...

i also with he could play more than one position in the side too.....

dont need him..... wish we could have freed up this spot for a shot at something we need.

terrible decions to give him 2 years.

sydney you must really love your list cloggers.... anything average we dont need ... having shown very little... and we cant say chop him...

lets hold onto every guy that shows a glimpse of very little in positions we dont need.....

I think it is fair to say we will have a substantial clean out next year....

Davies will be good Synners. Give him a chance. 2 injury riddled years on our list with very little development.

A good pre season and a some confidence will do him wonders.

 I don't follow you here SB. Plenty of players get delisted after less than 15 games and 3 years on an AFL list. That happens.

I'm firmly in the "he's very lucky to still be on the list but fingers crossed he comes good in 2013" camp....

I reckon there's been other players pass through in recent years with similar talent levels who received less opportunities than Davies has.

Be interesting to see who the winners/losers are in the "favourites" reshuffle.

As much as delisting Bower, Russell and Thorton was reasonable given that three had to go, at least
Thorton was definitely not popular with Ratten. It would have been interesting to see how they would've
gone under MM.

I reckon there's a few who might miss their "preferred player" status too.
