We simply arnt good enough
Early days
It wouldnt matter if we lost or won by 40 points last night

We need to turn over our list
Too many outside players
too many guys who turn over the ball
too many guys who wilt under pressure
Proof will be in the pud this year
We were I think 4th in line for the flag in betting markets
Stupid

Over the last few seasons, the activities on this forum have dispelled the myth that Richmond supporters are the only ferals who eat their own.

Far out you are one grumpy bastard keogh.

We GET IT! You don't think we are good enough, you don't have to go in every single thread and ram it down everyone's throat time after time after time.

Just wait until the real season begins yeah?

I share some of the same concern but repetitiveness does no one any favours.

Just calm down a little bit. Sheesh.

Hahaha. This is laughably absurd. I love our club dearly but we have some of the most fickle, negative & uninsightful fans in the AFL. It wasn't a great showing but it's NAB Cup and it's one game. "It's not one game, it's an example of the same old crap!!" blah blah - everything takes time. Look at Brissy for example, Crazy Vossy was the laughingstock of the AFL for a bit and they looked to have a horrible list. Lo and behold, they were patient and things turned around.

Mick is the man for the job. It won't happen overnight but he's already making inroads and isn't going to take any prisoners.

To defend myself
Unlike many supporters judging by crowd figures I was a member through the dark years going to games where we were thrashed week in week out
With the arrival of Judd and some kids with high draft picks we were going forward which we have until last year's speed hump in the middle of the road.

Many supporters I have spoke with or have read and replied to on the web seem to have this view we are certainties to make the eight now that we have a coach who knows what he is doing and has a proven track record of getting the most out of the teams he coaches, particularly when it comes to defence. We our 11 bucks for the flag the same as Geelong which is stupid odds.

Now as you know I reckoned Ratten was an ordinary senior coach and that had a major bearing on how the team played. The coaching staff last year were clearly not on the same page as well. Despite some posters on here saying that was bullshit I and a few other realists were proved correct unless those protesters want to still disagree with the board which I reckon is unlikely. We unfortunately had a swag of injuries and with the poor coaching combined, we were well and truly exposed.

The main one for me is the players were fragile in the mind. When the pressure went on our peformance dropped away too much too quickly. This is one of the main reasons why, I hope the club employed MM because this problem stands out like dogs balls and has for a long time.

Yes I repeat myself and I am a guy half glass empty when it come to the CFC. That's me
I just hope that if the pattern of the season proper is similar to the second half of last Friday's game that MM will make changes to our list and repeat offenders will no longer be on our list.

The reasons we didnt achieve our expectations last year were partly injuries and a poor coaching staff.
Even with better luck and a better offield structure I still am not convinced this list can take us to top 4 or 6.

I am happy to be prove wrong but Judd is nearing 30 and there are no more excuses for the high draft picks we have recruited because they are all mid 20s ish.

Summing up Keogh, your posts offer up that we are only good enough to be considered a side good enough to finish between 7th and last years result 11th?

If that's the case, why stress yourself? You have already qualified yourself as a half glass full. Thanks for your frankness. :thanks:

Calling yourself a realist is bit unrealistic. The glass half empty bit i agree with though.

I agree on the list also. I was hoping for a few more changes last year in the trade week but am happy for Malthouse to have a year to find out if he can turn a few around. Friday night did show similar signs that we have been seeing for years. It shocked Malthouse too judging by his post game comments.

One day i hope to see a post game report after a loss that reads " Walker, Betts, Jamison, Yarran and Waite did all they could to drag Carlton over the line but unfortunately it was not enough."

Where the @#$%&! do you people get this stuff.
We had the 5th youngest list in the competition last year. Prior to 2012 (where we were decimated by injury), we came of a 100 point + win in an elimination final and a gutsy 5 point loss to West Coast in Perth in our second final. Thats 3 years in a row of finals appearances with incremental improvement. With the 5th youngest list on the competition!

And you think we arent good enough and need to start again? :screwy:

We should be coming into our prime. We have the best midfielder of the past 20 years, a 25 year old captain who won the coaches medal in 2011. More top 10 draft picks than you've had hot dinners and the highest paid coach in the game. Our midfield has been elite for 3 years. our backline is the strongest its been for yonks and we finally have some forwards who can catch the bloody footy.
If we're not expecting and achieving minimum top 4 with an average run of luck, everyone at the club should hang their @#$%&! heads in shame. We're far better positioned than we were in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and our depth if far superior.
