Barker has a firm contract for next season. I'd say thats why he's still there.

Blue report

Mitch improved out of sight this year. He's a beautiful kick of the footy, but he just needs to work on his tank so that he can run games out. He found himself playing down back in the second half of the VFL year and had some terrific games where he'd beat his opponent and also run off with the footy.

Carter certainly improved and his 2nd half of the season was solid in defence. I'll still be a little surprised if he's retained.

Seems Ratts is still talking to other clubs about an assistant's job.

Hope these blokes are the best available rather than just his old mates. Not confident of that. O'Bree, jesus christ!

Wiley sounds impressive enough but the interviewer was hopeless and didnt ask anything of substance.

I know he's only been in the job for a minute and a half but I would have been interested in what he's actually going to do in a little more detail.

That was another fine performance by our General Manager of Communications.....

3 Days!!!!!!!!!!!! He's been at Carlton 3 @##%$% days. Get a grip. He's not talking about World Peace after 3 days FFS. It's a nice intro interview. It's a "hi! How are you' puff piece. :banghead: :banghead:

Mate, I don't know why you bother. Seriously.

Wiley will be good for the coach that wanted him as he will be for the kids.
Seems very measured and will be a good balance for the players who will cop a flogging from Malthouse.

Love the enthusiasm...............for an old fellow.

Really enjoyed the interview, seems a genuinely nice and professional guy. Micks eyes, ears and gentle persuader. Great to have him on board.

Any club will be lucky to have Ratts as a senior assistant, or specialist assistant.
Hec, I'd rather have had Ratts stay in an assistant role at our club.
Think of all the experience he has.
One of the things I admired about him was his ability to keep developing himself. He was keen to work on his weaknesses, and improve them. He is known to have a great footy mind. Whether senior or line assistant, I reckon Ratts will shine in that type of role.

So there.

What does it say about Ratts if no one picks him up?

I think a few people on TC would be thrilled, because they'd rather be right, than wish a desrving person the right to a role he could more than competently fill.

Although, even if/when he lands a job, I'm sure some will still put a negative spin on it.

He seemed to confirm in his interview that we were only going to take 3 picks in the National Draft I know this is not his decision, however its dissappointing in this deep draft that we are only going to take 3 young players (in anycase I hope its young players).
