If you listen to him I dont think he knows himself
He appears to be living in a different world to me and how anyone can say Mick is going to do this or that is beyond me because he gives the impression he is making it up as he goes along

I agree........ He appears to be living in a different world to you.

All of the teams he pulled up the ladder had the same bloke at CHF.

At least Mick has managed the same trick at three different clubs. Pagan couldn't repeat his magic (not all entirely his fault, of course, but his record doesn't lie).

Secondly MM has a great track record in raising the standards of players and resurrecting careers. For this reason he maybe think what is in the past, is in the past. I have no doubt some Carlton players are going to be far better off under his coaching.

Most coaches have a track record of raising the standards of players. Laidler under Ratten comes to mind. And like most coaches, Mick has his failures. (Cam Wood traded for pick 15 and still a spud, Chris Bryan poached from Carlton and did nothing)
The onus will still be on the program to develop and improve players. MM isnt going to do it.

Yes, but MM has brought in Wiley to head the development program. Malthouse may not be doing it, but he's having an influence on it and has set the course for it, as a leader should.

Laidler? Became to a club that would actually play him, and immediately thrived. I wouldn't credit any kind of coach-led development there. Carazzo might be a better example.

Anyway, I'm far more interested in how our senior coach develops the team. Was interesting to hear Scotland say at the b&f that the players "bust a hump" in every single game. Really? I'm not sure how he could say that, particularly after just watching Syd vs Haw in the GF.

a bit delusional down at PP methinks. There's trying... And there's trying.

The point I was making is Malthouse has had his successes and failures at "rebirthing players". No more than many other coaches.
He isnt some form of silver bullet as some appear to believe. "Player X will thrive under Malthouse" "Malthouse will sort out player Y"
Plenty of people will be disappointed if they think MM is the answer to all our prayers.

Success and development comes from having a strong program and a determination and commitment to nurture talent.

Development! Exactly where our biggest issues are, I think that the club is only now starting to realise that, however I fear it is too late to take advantage of having Judd, and the opportunity of having 3 x number one draft picks.

You don't rate Malthouse which is fine, we have got the message.

I'm hoping as much as anyone that MM is successful. A premiership would make me as happy as any other supporter.
But I'm not going to sit here and read posts that are total misrepresentations of the facts and eat it up.

I'm intrigued to find out what MM will
do with Gibbs. I've got a feeling he'll become Daisy mark II and thrive under Mick

So, are you saying that Jobe Watson is a drug addict and will suffer a total meltdown, because, like Ben Cousins, he won a Brownlow?

When my generation went to High School, we studied clear thinking. It was all about avoiding logical fallacies similar to the one you made here.

Not expecting big things next year. I suspect we'll scrape into the eight and have a close loss in an elimination final after turning up to play for a quarter of footy.

I was just illustrating the floored evidence that was put before us in relation to why MM is so great, high school was along time ago for both of us, I doubt clear thinking formed a significant part of your studies.

What we can cling to is the belief that he gets the best out of ordinary players, hard to dispute that.

the main difference i see between the two is that MM has been able to adapt with the changing trends in the game, and has set a few trends himself.. ..pago had 1 style built around a star player, and wasnt able to keep up with the times..
