You have to tempt him and the crows.
Mick is also questioning his motivation for leaving the Crows, can't understand it.

Just spent a few minutes on “Big Footy”. Wow. I didn’t realise that we were still gonna get Cloke (the gamin signing with Pies is just a ruse by David to put the price up.) We are also going to get Caddy for a second round draft pick and Tippett for a couple of our discards with Toy thrown in.
I didn’t realise that we were sooooo good at the Restricted Agency and draft game.
Also, latest news from BF is that our TC "tommi": has been traded from “Rubber Soul” to the Rolling Stones tribute band and rebranded as a false Charlie Watts …………. “charli”……..just doesn’t have the same ring to it as “tommi”. (no pun intended)

Should be named the Audi trade week.

What do these players have in common?

Richards
Shaw
Mumford
Kennedy
Morton
Mattner

Plus Mcglynn

Answer: They were all good ordinary footballers that got traded to Sydney, who are now (except for McGlynn because of injury), premiership players. IMO, the club, from management down, have orerrated our list and that we will be on a downward spiral over the coming years, due to poor talent recognition, coaching and development over the past 5 + years. I just cant see how unless we try and regenerate the list by being bold, and perhaps taking a few risks, that we can hope to compete with clubs like Sydney and Hawthorn (plus about 4 others), over the next half a decade or so, particularly as we will lose some of our very best in the near future due to retirement.

I fear what the future holds.

Totally concur - in particular with the poor coaching and player development.

Sydney Swans - have that covered in spades.

Nobody really gave much thought to the Crows list last year,............ look how well they went with a fit list under a new coach.

For me, 2013 success relies heavily on two things:-

1) Fitness to our key players (ala Murphy / Waite / Kreuzer / Walker / Carazzo etc etc)
2) How the players 'Gel' under Malthouse.

All good and well, however how did things turn out in rd 4 this year when all of those players were up and about? Injuries and poor coaching are only part of the problem.

Over the past decade or so, the team that has got the most value out of their salary cap have won on the day..

No-one's been a contract worth well over their real value, you've got value out of the rookies and those on their last chance, and of course, players not being paid to sit in the grand stand with injuries. There's been few teams with lopsided salary caps up on the dais if any, either - a display in not only spending that middle tier of your salary cap effectively, but creating a culture worth convincing a player to stay in the middle tier, when they can easily accept shitloads elsewhere from mediocre clubs.

Looking over our list during that period of time, we've ticked none of those boxes.

As if a Carlton supporter is going to get to the nitty gritty of every other club's list. It's also not as if we only play against ourselves or some averaged-out 'default' side each year.

Of course we might surprise next year like other clubs have but we don't want to take that for granted either. I've been saying it for a few years now, I think next year will be our peak year (now providing the new coach can turn this year around) but beyond that, I think we'll be middling. That's my honest assessment of our list.

In other words, not a disaster but also not 'blue skys' either. The key will be if we manage to change our mindset or whether it will end up being another round of bottoming out after years of being average.

No cap space for Tippett.

I like our list as well and have said before I believe it is a top 4 list. However, doesn't mean you can't improve on it. I still believe one or two deals will de done.

I'd be most surprised if there weren't any deals, although I'd be every bit as happy should we work ourselves up the ND ladder.

With over ten players still out of contract and possibly open to trading Ellard, Warnock and a couple of others, we're clearly leaving options open.

Yep. With the structure of trading/free agency now its a real juggling act and timing to get your list together. We have Casboult, Touhy, Bell, Curnow, OKeefe all looking/needing an upgrade. We have picks 11, 33, 52 at this point. 52 and up is a lottery no matter how good the draft.

We may trade someone for a second or third round pick? We have delisted Kerr, Thornton & Russell. There isn't a lot of room to play with.

What would McKay know. According to TC, we're getting everyone including Caddy as a definite.
Sack him and put TC's insiders in charge.

I expect Bower to be shopped around next week. If no takers then to be delisted. Yes ?
