He's hardly going to come out and say our list needs an overhaul. First, sends panic and gives a negative message to the Club and players, and second, if they don't manage to land some trades (which, let's face it, are bloody hard to do, even if you find someone you want), then what does that say about the state of the Club?

We need to keep a couple of things in mind:

1. Clubs and their employees lie - all the time. Just because someone says something, doesn't mean it's the truth. Coaches and CEOs and Presidents will trot out the standard lines to suit their needs. What happens behind the scenes may be entirely different.

2. 99% of rumours we hear in trade week are crap. It's fun to speculate, and toss around the rumours, but don't get into a tizzy because so-and-so was coming to us but I don't want him and now he's going there and why didn't we get him and why doesn't anyone want to play for us and yada yada...

We need a marking forward have done since Fev left - there were 3 on the market - we won't get any
I'm not saying the list needs a complete overhaul
Quiet trade period means no trades - We need to inject something into this list- anything at all to stimulate what has become stale - I'm telling you Mick has been sucked in- I still sit here and can't pick a best 22 - Can't get them all in - to many super stars at Carlton . Try it , It is difficult you always leave someone out - Mick has done the same excercise - Ratts did it last year and they let him down big time .

Every player on the list has enormous potential - massive upside some even have that elusive 'X' factor it is just a matter of getting them on the park and making them all click .

Be warned Mick you will be disappointed

Mick coming out and saying he is happy with the list is a big big mistake

Dane you should know that when you change coaches, all that changes is the name on the office door, nothing else. Therefore the performance of the existing players will mirror that of this year. MM is an idiot, who was lucky the list at the Pies was playing prelims and GF's when he took over, and so continued to do so when he was there

Pies were wooden spooners when MM took over and he had them playing in Grand Finals within 2 or 3 years but hey don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Malthouse started admiring our list halfway through last year.
He is basically saying the players are talented and he has the disipline and experience to produce the best out of them or they will suffer the consequences.
Afew on here believe we have a good squad, me included.
Malthouse believes the same thing but the coaching and disipline was well below par, this is where his talent lies and if he gets the team playing for each other than we are half way there.

My brother believes that the team is and will be run by the players and Malthouse won't make any difference ( well in the long run ) but I disagree.
This is why Ratten had to go and a stronger disipilnarian had to take over.
This is the advantage of Malthouse and this is the change we had to have.
Hopefully he will instill some disipline and not only for now but also for the years to come.

thats the spirit Redback I am with you all the way just a tweak here and there and this group of players can produce anything - even sporstbet has us 4th favourites for the flag next year - we will be unbackable favourites come march next year
This side just sucks you in - trust me they will let you down

Its only good players that you can trade. The no-so-goods have no currency.

Can't be any more disappointing that this years train wreck in that respect.
One thing that I admire about Malthouse is that he is a strong character and leader. He will demand commitment from his team, something that has been lacking.
He will make the hard decisions without emotion.
What has been lacking from previous years.
Can't be any more disappointing that this years train wreck in that respect.

Malthouse will come in and will automatically bring with him success and leadership.
This is a great start not only for the obvious reasons but also for the confidence and development of the young kids.
We have been lacking true leadership and senior authority for many a year and when a new play is brought into that environment it's just a metter of time before they themselves lose drive and focus.
This will force our senior players to grow up fast and also give our young incumbants focus and surity intheir future goals and endevours.
This is the direction that has been lacking in the past with our younger players not learning what is expected from them from our senior players on and off the field.
Now we can't just trade 5-7 senior players with great leadership qualities so we have done the next best thing and brought in a quality coach will demand excellents change the culture of our football club that has been instiled in it for the last ten/fifteen years.

and this is why I am being sucked in for the next few years
