He's within his rights to ask for 2 years. He was our best performed player in the second half of the year.
Personally, If I was Brocks manager, I'd ask for 1 year and really give him an opportunity to establish himself as a consistently very good player. Then he'd have some real bargaining power.

Bingo. Squeeze in a one year option for security, and push for it to be exercised early before moving onto contract talks. The club can't lock him away with a 2 year deal anyway.

No signatures. Just tying up the fine print. Brock McLean will play for Carlton in 2013.

Maybe everything has been agreed to but he's just refusing to shake hands.

The Brock McLean metamorphosis is now complete; the hard-nosed Carlton midfielder having re-signed for 2013 with an option on the following season.

Smart business by all involved.

I think it was a fair enough deal for Brock especially since it took him 2 1/2 years into his first 3 year contract to actually start producing. It provides the bonus of a second year if he keeps performing.

Also, good dealing by the club to keep Bell on the rookie list for another year

Yep. He ain't a rocket surgeon, our Brock.

I was thinking the other day that it's kinda a pity that Brock and Fev didn't manage to have any time together at the club. That would've been ... er ... interesting. The brain scientist and the rocket surgeon..... together ..... one place ....... same time. Nek minnit ....... MELTDOWN!
