I wish it was just a problem relating to a 'mucked up database', this isn't a local under 12's footy club, these 'muck ups' simply shouldn't happen and if they do they should do everything necessary to correct the mistake.

This doesn't include guessing how many years someone has been a member for.

So “he" stole them from himself?

I think it clearly established early he did not draft the letter.............................................................So the person/persons that drafted the letter used some MM quotes to make it sound like it was MM addressing the membership. (there is your deception, for those not following???)
Now i know this is not the end of the world, but i would have thought in the early days of his tenure he would be a little more proactive. point one!
I hope this is the only deception and that he is in full control of the football dept now, not ebbing along aimlessly through some important times (draft and trade period) until November. point two!
Cant break it down any further than that.

So you want them to call the 70,000+ people in the database to confirm details, or issue a public statement informing them of the issue?

They didn't guess, the information obviously mismatched, or reset upon migration.

It's not his job; this is the same communications department, issuing the same old crap from the past.

You're pointing the finger at someone who's only responsible for the theme of the message and some rough wording; not its existence.

What part of what I've written do you not understand?

This whole thread is ludicrous, but in the name of free speech (TM), it stays open. Taking a moment to think would be advisable though.

Didn't get it. Many people won't. Here's an idea - send it to everyone in your e-mail 'supporter' database Ian Coutts! Are you trying to get members...or do you think it will just happen? Win the Customer!

Exactly. Not sure why it's so bloody hard.

Someone must be feeding someone else a good dose of crap when we can't get our act together in respect to our members.

You guys obviously didn't because for some utterly egotistical reason, you thought the club should call you. My apologies if that's incorrect, but do you really think any of these responses read differently?

This quote from my first post "Mick is all about himself” is my concern, its not ludicrous to me.

Doc, prescribe yourself a day off work and TC and a lie down please. During your day off, call or e-mail the membership department (if you plan on resuming your long running membership you discarded in 2011), and clarify your details with the club.

You've not even quoted the letter yet... perhaps give us more context to what sounds like a simple formality from the club?

And for those wondering why I don't have the e-mail, I unsubscribed from it. Perhaps some of you did too when the odd Carlton shop sale ad came through?

Well that's just the thing - I want them to win me back. Like all good organisations do. They need to convince me - not the other way around! It should be more a professional sales team than a an amateur football club membership department. E-mail me, phone me, engage me. Because if you don't - I have to presume that you're no longer interested in my money, my networks, my loyalty, my support.

Like it or not, this isn't 1994.

Ok so it needs to be through public comment and community events? Or do they have your number?

So I have to agree with you twice in the one day?

That's just the way it should be. Sitting back and waiting for things to happen is not conducive to lifting numbers.

Couldn't believe it when Swann was asked on The Blue Print as to why our numbers were so low.

His answer: " I don't know and I've asked my staff the same question" WTF is that? Embarrassing response to an important question.

He could not give you the real answer, internally they believe Ratten did not appeal to the membership.
That's one of the reasons he got the arse.

They have my number. They've got my e-mail. I moved house last year and haven't updated, but I doubt anything is being sent by snail mail. It's a combination of laziness, not having a CEO who understands Comms and a Comms Manager who is having to learn on the fly because he came from Marketing and Media management and the club presumed this was the same as Communications. Put the three of them together in 2012 and it's a recipe for disaster. If we're completely honest about Communications at the Carlton Football Club - if the CEO understood Comms (even just a little), Ian Coutts would be out of a job. The CEO and the GM, Comms could then drag the club into the 21st century.

You will see this when that day occurs. It won't take much.

That may be the case to a point, but the lack lustre efforts of the CFC in their endeavours to writing bigger numbers has been found wanting many times over.

I hope we're not relying solely on Malthouse to address this somewhat flagging area of our operation.
Pick-up the phones, send out the emails, go face-to-face where the ticket warrants and don't wait until June to have a few players manning the phones for a last ditch grasp as we did this year.
