Clearly it was drafted on his behalf not by him, hence my disappointment!!

Not whinging!...... Concern about what is going on at the club at this very important time of the year (for those not in finals) September/October. The next couple of years are very important years for Carlton and the board knows it, hence the whole Mick Malthouse signing. I believe our list can really leap forward with the right retainment, trading and drafting of players especially with the free agency situation. I would like to think Mick is fully in control of the current list analyses and the deficiencies right at this time........... not starting in November?

I had that as well Agro. I've been a member since 1975, but they had on it a much later date (I guess before things were computerised, there was no way of knowing these things). So I changed the year back to 1975 on my details update form (this was quite a few years ago), and they changed it. Perhaps just try that? As Mrs C said, this letter is actually to get people to update their details. The Malthouse thing is just an add on.

Get a hold of yourselves. As long as Mick gets the team playing better, and more disciplined footy, I don't care about this kind of stuff. I pay my membership to get easier access to games, not to get fluffy detailed letters from the coach.

Don't you mean white ink?

You can have your personalised letter in white ink if you'd like, but i won't be happy unless mine is in red.

My details have been fouled up since I became an AFL Member (back in 1986) with Carlton Club Support Package. But I have bought season reserved seats in the Pratt Stand right up until our last game there in 2005.

I have "sorted" it out a few times - but how they have it now as a member from "2002" is baffling to say the least.

I have updated the details on the card and will mail it back - see how long these details stay correct this time - or whether they will be updated at all. :?

I got a letter exactly like that cecil.
It was scented, too.
In fact, Mick, and his entire extended family are coming over for lunch next week.
The only fault I had with it, was that he'd written on the back of an old Pies memo.
Still, at least he was recycling.

Mountain. molehill.

So why don't they send out the same letter to people that are on already on their database???:-

We've got a NEW coach, some NEW board members and a NEW attitude. We've even got a NEW destination for our altitude training. And we'll definitely recruit some exciting NEW talent to the club. Whether you're NEW to Carlton or whether it's time to reNEW. We want YOU! You kNEW this day was coming. Become a member.

Get the old Uncle Sam U.S Army recruitment poster and photoshop a Carlton jumper on him. It's not rocket science.

I just received my letter in the mail today. Seriously i dont understand what all the fuss is about. It is a letter from the coach, whether or not it was personally written by or not is really not that important, and asking for updates of member details.
There are people in this world starving, losing their homes, children and young people with cancer (including one of our players),people living in fear and all some people can complain about is a letter not being written by Malthouse and the club getting the number of years of ones membership wrong.
Be thankful for our health and that we can afford to buy memberships. Many people out there so much worse off than most of us.

If the membership service had any wits about them they'd have a Member Self Service online facility whereby you could, strangely, log in, see your memberships, update your details, send/receive correspondence, get rewards for buying Carlton Merchandise through the Online Carlton Shop, receive access to members only stuff perhaps, and in the off season, change your membership category.

If the membership service already has wits about them and offers the above, I retract my statement.

I do not think anybody suggested these are the most important issue facing the world at the moment?
Just a forum to discuss our beloved club!! if fixing the ills of the world are your concerns this is not the vehicle for that.

From someone whose career has been in media & comms, I can say that some of the 'strategic' comms that comes out of the Carlton Football Club leaves me spectacularly underwhelmed...

Ratten had weekly e-mails ghost written for him, as well as season review e-mails, videos and articles. This is exactly like that, and has nothing to do with Mick's ego.

And so they cocked up their database merge a few years back... guess what? Call the club, tell them and they'll change the ID counters that screwed up your chronology with the club. Simple phone call.

Ghost Writers In The Sky.

Mm's new book. How he was forced to steal his own material, and quote himself, due to lack of funds at CFC.
A true tragedy.

I find it amusing the people who constantly think they have to defend the club because - well - "it's my club and I won't let a bad word be said about it"...meanwhile in the 21st century, other clubs are actually delivering on actions and measurables emanating from the Strategic Plan.

I don't think you understand how easy it is to muck up a database merge when it's a complex database, and the systems share stark differences (hence the choice to upgrade).

And once it's done, it's more or less done, particularly if you don't notice the problem until well after the job's complete (and have eliminated the back ups). The club issued a statement when it happened, and many people called in to confirm their details.

You guys obviously didn't because for some utterly egotistical reason, you thought the club should call you. My apologies if that's incorrect, but do you really think any of these responses read differently?
