I'd be happy if Garlett wants to go home. Do it. We have Betts, Collins, Yarran, Buckley plus the mids that can all fill the same role.

Trade him to WCE for Lycett. Do it!

Haven't heard anything.
We are talking about Carlton though. No one leaves that we want. (Minus Judas)

If I was Bell I would be taking the three year contract unless its with Port or Bulldogs.

In my view Bell will be a better player than Touhy/Curnow/Ellard and the potential to be better than Robinson nevermind Davies, White or Joseph.

If we lose Casboult and Bell, then the positives from this season rapidly become negative, to me they are the two stand outs ready for senior selection next year.

I have a feeling salary space for T Cloke is generating these issues.

Is free agency period before or after Bell becomes tradeable?

Did I miss something? Isn't Bell under a 2yr rookie contract, thus tied to us next year anyway?

No, was on 1 year, as are all rookies

pretty close...ever since the bub came along so did quite a few come over to hang out from Perth.

Don't think he slept well and it wasn't all to do with the newborns sleeping patterns.

He's pretty easy going and needs someone to do some head kicking...well...to protect him from outside influences. He's not the problem. I believe he's the victim.

I'll ask. I don't know if it is the girlfriend directly.

IMO someone from his family needs to step in and ask those hanging off him to let him do his job....play footy...and he doesn't need disruptive sleep.

Pretty average comment.

If you had any clue what the problems were then you could comment on his mental state.

Has he gone crazy from all the commentators referring to him as Gartlett instead of Garlett?

Probably

No doubt he's had a difficult year personally...I've seen people at work with their first child have their life turned absolutly upside-down. I'm not prepared to hang shite on him if that's contributing to his probs.

I'm not a huge fan of Curnow's disposal by hand and foot on both sides of his body.
I do see what he brings to the table with his endurance and ability to get to the next contest over 100 mins...similar to Ellard. WE don't need both imo.

We need more class in the midfield, and I wouldn't consider Ellard, Curnow, McLean or Bell as the class I have in mind for the midfield. I don't consider Lucas or Joseph as classy midfielders either. So imo we have an excess peripheral mids and not enough class.

But of the lot metioned above, I'd retain Bell. Yep, ahead of picks 11 and 12 in Lucas and McLean, which just goes to show a player does not often reflect the Draft No. we gave up to get them on our list: that's life, and we move on.

Bell has a big Kouta like body and adds grunt to the midfield, unlike any other midfielder on our list (imo) in fact he adds grunt to any contest he's involved with, and he also has amazing aerobic capacity and speed over most of the abovementioned, with maybe Lucas being faster...I guess even that's debatable.

Then I look at Collins, who looks classy, but that's when he is on his own, with time and space. I don't see Collins as a finals player because time and space is not a luxury in finals. He is not the future either imo, so I'd look at him as another I would delist to improve our list if there's better out there to target. Picks 9 and 25 are no guarantees, but they are worth a hell of a lot of potential.

We have to keep Bell. We need to find another classy mid, and I believe we will have to trade for that classy mid. I don't consider Moloney as a classy mid, as he's more like another tough in and under type like Brock...and Ellard...and even that hard headed Joseph.

Unless we get a Caddy or Toy for our early picks, (9 and 25?), we should keep them to pick the best available. The rumoured potential recruitment of Quinton Lynch would mean we keep those 2 picks and we'd need to offer maybe pick 45 and/or a player, but Cloke would definetely cost us both those early picks and/or one of our ruckmen imo. I don't believe we'll get Cloke.

Delist the peripherals, as many as we have to to retain rookies Bell, Casboult and Curnow whilst retaining picks 9 and 25, and maybe 45 if we need. We'll have tougher decisions to make next year, but right now we need to fill some gaps to play for a flag next year under one of the great coaches (like him or not).

Lets keep the best we have, fill a couple of gaps in the midfield and a KPF and we are on the way to compete for a flag...I hope.

You don't think Robbo adds grunt?

This is becoming the stuff on nightmares.

1. Garlett?
2. Russell and Thornton have walked out
3. Bell and Casboult are trying to be poached
4. Boak turned us down
5. Cloke is about to turn us down
6. Caddy and Toy have shown no interest in coming
7. Kilkenny is talking to Hawthorn instead of us
8. We are getting Lynch

What is going on at Carlton?
