There were rumors floating around the certain players that wanted Ratten gone, Betts was included as one of the players in this rumor. I always thought the body language between Ratts and Betts was quite good, great infact.

And I heard that McKay had a meeting with several of the senior players mid-season and the relationship with Ratten. It went something along the lines of "nice guy but no mongrel to instill aggression in the playing group".

That might be made up or not. Certainly rings true.

Every team does at times. The game is played at such high intensity these days only the elite can maintain a high level of arousal through 26 weeks.
Everyone has peaks and troughs. Even in 95 we had a couple of shockers.

To be fair to Eddie, bit hard to be excited by a coach you've probably only spoken to once or twice.

I suspect it's like having a new boss come in at work, or a new teacher at school... It's not something that's ever excited me.
