Anyone else get a letter stating they are re- zoning level 1 MCG and Etihad seating to Captain club seating.?

For a measly extra $165.00 each we get to enjoy the same seat I have had for over 11 years.

I am so upset over this, with the way we members are treated.

I don't know what to do, thinking of telling them to shove their membership but then I lose out going to watch threw game I love.

Anyone know where they are going to put us.?

Too angry for words right now. Where is this club going.?

Just got the same thing.

Have had the same seats for about 10 years, have paid up every year even when we were hardly worth the price of admission, then they hit us with this.

Very poor.

As a reserve seat member i get to sit on level 1 at both etihad and mcg. I received a letter today and the club is forcing me to upgrade to a captains club membership in order to keep my seat. Thats an extra $165 !!!!

Seriously considering getting an afl membership instead. NOT HAPPY CARLTON!

i just put a post up regarding the same thing. I think its shocking. The carbon tax is at fault! lol.

I have given this club over $5k the past 10-12 years as a member. I think i might direct this to the afl now.

I was wondering if the requests for Captain's Club increased tremendously this year moving them to seek more seating for them?

On the one hand a good thing for the club, on the other not great if it's your seats they are wanting

I doubt it. An unfortunate by-product of this club over the years is the inherent greed of the board and its indifference to rank and file members. I got the letter today as well and it is a disgrace.

I have no doubt that this move has something to do with the immediate need to increase revenue to cover the additional costs we will have next year to cover the Malthouse appointment. If it was Etihad imposing it the club would have been quick to point the finger.

As much as I love this club, its treatment of its supporters and members is the reason our membership is poor. We were the last MCG tenant to have an MCC membership - why? Because there isn't enough money in it. We don't have 3 game memberships because they are worth no money. Unless you have bottomless pockets and corporate clout you are not welcome at this club. No wonder everyone who is not Carlton hates us and considers the club arrogant. It is.

I am filthy and very little riles me. I hope that someone from the club monitors this. My wife's first response was "I don't want to renew my membership if they are going to do this". This is a lifelong supporter, not a Richmond yo-yo member. I am not a fan of bandwagon jumpers but the greed of the decision leaves me on the fence. I will not spend an extra $150-$300 to bankroll the club's financial follies.

If you can simply move a few bays and remain on level 1 it should be ok but if you have to go to level 3 then I will not be renewing my family membership. Half the games are rubbish anyway and I am not interested in paying big money for GWS, GCS, Port, etc...

My partner is currently writing a massive letter to the membership dept, on how much a disgrace this is as I am truly so upset by this. Seems like the club is trying to get rid of its loyal members for rich ones. I simply will not pay the extra on principal.

They don't even have the decency to give you alternative options on where you can sit on the letter. I will not sit in level 3 that's for sure.

Looks like I am going to investigate AFL membership now. Anyone know where the seating is in the AFL members?

Im giving my AFL Membership away as I dont want to give them money anymore.

MCG - Half the Southren Stand, about 20,000 seats
Etihad - Level 1, 3000 seats which sell out pretty fast.

Etihad is pretty shit for AFL Members unless you want to book tickets well in advance.

You'll be up for a joining fee and then $500 a year.

That's pretty poor form by the club, feel for you all. I know someone who has probably received the same letter. I am just a silver member who upgrades for the big games. So much for looking after the members.

Good on ya :fight: I'm a loyal member who is in the same boat as you but my wife is an AFL (Haw nominated) member and although she pays a bit more she has had great value with away games and finals including the 2008 GF and probaly this years GF as well so I think I will do the same now, the club go and get stuffed and if that raffle ticket man rings me or someone else wondering why I have not renewed then look out

It is important that as many Carlton members write to the club in protest.

The club doesn't HAVE to do it, and if this doesn't bite 'em on the bum in memberships, it syas more about what their supporters are willing to tolerate to see their beloved Blues and not just about those who sell us the goods we want... primo seats.

The supporters are addicts, so what does that make our club in this case?
