I hope they see it the same way.

Reckon BM would be happy to stay in background and keep helping out if the club was running properly. He - thank god - was forced to come and have a public crack at the administration earlier this year for obvious reasons. He just wants us to be able to stand on our own two feet. Why put money in if you have no confidence in the place?
Pratts? Not so sure.

Mathiesons vision is a club not having to rely on himself or Pratt...

I think Fahour was supported by Jeannie and Mathieson....... lately...

I reckon theyre out of answers... Sticks isnt the answer and they all know it... maybe Sticks doesnt ... cos the last sentences of that ar ticle imply he thinks Fahur would be a wonderful addition to his board.... :sly:

I think this is a good step, but they still need to dramatically reduce the board numbers from 12

He is an ordinary President no doubt but I don't think the above is warranted.
I am sure when Adelaide came knocking for his services in the early nineties when we were a pretty ordinary team it would have been quite easy for him to walk out of the place. No need to take the piss out of him.

Well, if the Pratts have only recently come around to this, then kudos to them.

Will the board member cull still go ahead?

I know 3 will be retiring, but with 2 additions its still far too big.

All the talk of Fahour's leadership style at NAB and Post is damning. I've heard it from those that used to report directly to him.
For those that doubt him presiding over a board need not be concerned as he's not the CEO. Being Prez is all about the right financial decisions (business/commercial/football) are calculated, well informed, and revenue streams through sponsorship and within are made. His style is right at board level. His style will be George Harris like - very demanding, shrude, and make the board and CEO extremely accountable, whilst portraying a professional external image of the club. He has great contacts in the corporate world - a non-negotiable attribute as a Prez.

...Or you could get Gandel money coming in and make it a trifecta of families! After all, John is the richest man in Melbourne, with an estimated $3.4 billion fortune and it would be a good marketing opportunity with the new Chadstone Hotel about to get the green light.

Bruce Mathieson has an exit strategy for everything. He'd have worked out a time when he pulls back from Carlton philanthropic activity.

Well Stephen...instead of saying this you should probably give a small hint that you are 'still discussing that a board level', 'have a couple of options available to us' etc...etc or even 'you'll find out in due course Caroline'. It's not that hard!

What my suggestion would be to you is remove the football sub-committee from board responsibility. You currently have an 'Executive' that sits underneath the Board made up of:

Anthony Barham (Sales & Sponsorship Director),
Ian Coutts (GM – Communications),
Andrew McKay (GM – Football Operations),
Jason Reddick (CFO), Martin Shannon(GM – Operations),
Clinton Bown (GM – Consumer Business & Digital Marketing).

1. Change it's name to 'Executive Management Team'
2. Add 'Football Department sub-committee to the Executive Management Team responsibility.
3. Remove Kernahan and Gleeson from the Board.
4. Add Fahour, C.Mathieson and Trainor to the Board.
5. Board is now made up of 9.
6. Add Kernahan, Gleeson and Swann to the Executive Management Team.
7. Remove Coutts from the Executive Management Team.
8. Executive Management Team is now 7.

I'm keeping in mind that this is Caroline 'various sources have told me' Wilson sprouting this. I won't believe it's happening until I see it. I know Fahour doesn't excite a lot of people - and to be honest - I can't comment...I don't know enough about the bloke's management style. I do know that with him on the board we have a lot better chance of Stephen Silvagni returning to the club in some capacity one day (whether as a past player or a father watching his son/s). That can only be a positive.

Yep. Football clubs like Carlton look after their champion players very well. Sticks gave much to Carlton on-field, but the club also set him up for life. Let's not be naive: only supporters and volunteers do it purely for the love of the club.

Anyway, I'm very happy to hear the wheels are in motion. I just hope sticks is smart enough to choose a dignified exit for himself, sooner rather than later.

ericpascoe (as reliable as you can get) and crane6 (no idea about his credibility, recently missed the Ling get as well) on bigfooty mentioning that another bloke is also coming on board. Apparently a recently hired CEO.

Sounds good.
