Woah!!!
kk...Group hug..except there aren't enough of us.
Almost missed your post.

I'm not anti the change though..just really slow at adjusting, and fair chance I'll always dislike this man. However, as others point out...so what! we don't have to like Pinocchio,
we just need a coach that improves the players.
I hope it's Mick the Messiah, and not another lost chapter in our history.

Can't help feeling that history is already being rewritten by Malty though.
We DID have a hec of a lot of injuries. Yes, there were underlying problems, but Gibbs was supposed to go to the mid field, and would have if the injuries had been less. It's not a new idea.Stuff like that will irk me, but not enough so I can't enjoy us winning more games.

Oh, and Blueboy74, great post, I'll take your word for it, and hope he implements his best ideas with our club.
but....it's not SORT, as in 'sort it out'. It's SOUGHT as in 'sought their opinion'. k? ok.

..who's to say that Gibbs couldn't have played thru the middle.. ..we suffered injuries on pretty much every line.. ..plus there's a school of thought that i often adhere to that states you have your best players in the thick of the action.. ..the idea that he's so desperately needed in defense to me sounds like we were already conceding 'defeat' in the middle/stoppages.. ..i think that more talent around the ball would have helped ease some of the load on the backline anyway..

Well, that is a good point, and many times, I wondered about it thu this season.
However, everyone, including Ratts, did insist that they would have played him there if they could have.
It's certainly not an innovative idea.
I suppose you could say that MM will use him in the middle no matter what happens, and that's something I'd be thrilled about.
To gloss over the injuries altogether though, and say, we finished tenth, purely through coach's mistakes, is wrong for me.
I know others disagree with this (! :D)

..i'm not wholly caught up in the low finish, but rather the way we played through patches of this year, even before the injury toll got ridiculous, was what did it for Ratts, in my opinion.. ..the port loss was terrible, but the early warning signs prior to that game were ignored.. ..injuries were bad, but the poor coaching was far worse i thought..

That was a great segment.

Agreed with Parko too, about players owing the game, not the other way around.

bg72, I'm not against change either, just can't accept him as 'one of us' the moment he signs up, and to be perfectly honest I actually feel the same way about (gasp horror) Chris Judd. Even this far down the track CJ, while being enjoyable to watch etc... just doesn't seem to be your typical footballer that remotely cares about the result.

funnily enough I never minded Parko, as a kid I always felt that he would get a win for us, even when we were behind at 3/4 time. (not that we ever were after the third 1/4)

I notice Sam Lane agrees with us too. The finest arguments in the world can't change a gut reaction.
I'm used to it already, but it was a shock, and hardly in the spirit of a Team, and not an individual.
However, it seems to have made a lot of fellow supporters deliriously happy, and importantly, has helped them stick it up their Pie supporting friends. (Can't argue with that bit  )

Not happy about Wiley either, (while I'm at it), but understand that Mickey Mouse needs his people around him. My memories of Wiley at the Eagles were of a mouthy prick

Judd's got huge wraps on Wiley too. Mick wants him in a development role, which seems fair enough.

If Wiley is to be a Senior Asst also coaching the Northern Blues I would be very happy. Good developer who will mimic MM's game plan to a tee. His communication with MM will make this seamless and be great for our younger players.

Psyc,
there will be no senior assistant under Mick, which is one of the main structural changes of the coaching panel that he was talking about (the other being 1 midfield coach only).

Other than carrying the team and previous coach on his shoulders what other things would he need to show?....

Yes your right Stamos. Poor wording by me. I mean is a "senior" assistant as in experience. MM will just asst coaches in different roles.

My point though stands. Wiley as a development coach with a focus on the Northern Blues would be a great position. Wiley is a good bloke and a very good football person and above all MM has full trust in him.

Happy to be proven wrong on all counts. Perhaps Wiley has softened in his old age
