We would have done much better if we'd taken Cotchin or Dangerfield

Correct, I would have given them Pick 1 and thats it. We could have still picked up someone good at 3 and kept Kennedy. Stupid negotiations on Carltons part.

Good thing the Eagles didn't have a say in it whatsoever!

They said they wanted pick 1 all along, and Judd chose us so we had a bit of power there.

I haven't read this thread; but voted NO.

With the right tuition; I can imagine Levi developing into a Cloke type forward anyway.

When did they say pick 1 only?

Did we just offer them pick 3, 20 and Kennedy to be nice?

No, I remember West Coast talking tough and saying they wanted out Pick 1. It doesnt matter now anyway, but I remember that as I was thinking at the time, just give them pick 1, and keep Kennedy and pick 3.

Think some over state Kennedys ability - I think Darling has gone past him

check this for 6 months age difference

Exactly - he chose Carlton as his destination.

The club's (and the AFL) were shitting themselves about restraint of trade and were all working together to ensure that players got to their preferred destinations (read preferred places of employment).

We should have held fast at Picks 3 and 20 - it was enough.

We effectively gave them Pick 3, 4 and 20 - way too much.

The hindsight deal would have been Pick 3, 20 and Bower which is what they originally asked for and we said no, then we offered Kennedy.

Eagles wanted 1, 3, 20 and Kennedy/Bower for Judd at the time. We said we would not trade our pick 1.
We got Dennis Armfield from that trade with pick 46. Eagles used 20 on Tony Notte, who is now no longer on their list.

Hawthorn didnt get lucky.. theyre well run organisation....

StKilda played in 2 gfs.. and some prelims..

Thats thereabouts....

We had Ratts for over 5 years......unlucky.....he even gave up Kennedy and Masten.. and pick 20 for Juddy... and pick 11 for Brock... and an early pick for Warnock

Plus we used picks on Watson and Russell and Lucas...

Thats a problem with the organization and the coaches and development/ recruiters

We had to give up something good to get Judd and it was Kennedy, how many premierships has he played in again?

Now Masten, seriously, if we said no to the Judd deal and took Masten instead he would be playing for Yarrawonga reserves now, so slow has his development been. So in effect what you're saying is that you would have preferred Masten playing in our team since 2008 instead of Judd.... LMOA... seriously LMOA. You also wanted Albert Proud didn't you, that would have worked out well?

I think I've finally worked you out. I don't think I've ever seen a positive post from you, so you obviously don't barrack for Carlton. You've taken us for a big ride all these years because you are a.... Troll........ troll.... troll... hiss...hiss...boooooo
