Lets just trade everyone.

Or you could discuss it sensibly...

If Cloke does turn up, I'd say it's probable he's the one out the door. Could it be another Jacobs trade? Or would it just be the smartest possible trade out of all our talls.

Half the reason I don't want to trade Hampson is that after 2 season ending knee injuries in 2 seasons, his trade value is minimal. Warnock much the same.

Is it feasible that a club grossly overreacts to Casboult's half a dozen games of potential and offers overs for him? At this rate, I reckon it's more likely than a club offering us overs for Hampson or Warnock.

Why? Maybe Mick will tell him he will be the forward/ruck, thus Cloke has no impact on his ability to play AFL.

Hampson is the one to get overs for.

Could we play a forward line of Cloke/Casboult/Waite though? No forward line pressure there at all.

We should get overs for Hampson. Coming off 2 seasons ruined by knee injuries is probably not the time to do it. I reckon we could get one consistent year out of him and then trade out. Collingwood panicking is probably the exception to the rule.

He's out of contract; we have no right to retention of the player. The only question is how long until his contract expires (before or after FA).

Therefore the average AFL club would offer us... almost nothing.

Sierakowski and Jenkins are precedents of us receiving something for him - if he wanted to leave, I'd assume he'd nominate a club of choice rather than risk his chances going to GC or GWS..

Interesting month ahead. I would be extremely pissed if we lose Casboult.

I wouldn't be rapt about it. It flies in the face of the logic of getting Cloke because we won't have to trade our players away.

Having said that, if its that or the alternative of giving Hampson away for a Jacobs pick, I know what I'd prefer.

Throw in Eddie & Jeffy, and say Walker and that's the fwd line, enough pace, pressure and height (Eddie's marking also a strength against probably smaller opponents now as the opposition would be stretched covering all our players). Bottle it up with improved midfield defensive help and better delivery into the fwd line and perhaps it'll be a functioning forward set up. Waite would have enough toe against his opponent who would be trying to match in the marking contests.

All 3 talls tend to be hit up targets though. Haven't really seen any of them play a really good game spending the majority of the game close to goal.

North's 3 talls work when Petrie stays at home, and the other 2 play up high. Similiar with Geelong and Podsiadly staying close to goal, Hawkins a hit up forward. Is there that much versatility to offer that?

You'd look to rotate Cloke & Casboult through the key posts, with Waite as the flanker, wing, pocket type player maybe even switching with Walker, Gibbs/Simpson rotation through those positions.
Yet to be seen but you'd think Casboult closer to goal target but all 3 would want to be close to goal when kicking for the big sticks to improve their goal %, none of them overly flash but at least they can all mark it.

If he's a free agent, he can choose his club. And after checking what available information there is, he can by another club any time after the FA period opens.

IMHO our best team is pretty good, problem is our list management, has way too many half back flankers likes of Bower, Thornton, Davies, Thuoy are not required.

Best team

Laidler Jamo Yazz

Gibbs Henderson Duigan

Simpson McLean Lucas

Robinson Waite Garlett

Betts Cloke Walker

Kruezer, Judd, Murphy

Bench Carazzo, Armfield

You may notice that Scotland is missing, he has to at 32 he will not improve. Also no fan of the coach.

Lucas needs to be played every week, new coach will sort out his attitude, but he is an elite kick and should replace Scotland.

After an excellent season, McLean gets a chance, will be used like Ball at Collingwood

Levi my find a spot in the team if Cloke doesnt make it to us, also he can second ruck.

Coach will be looking a utility type to go back, forward and especially into ruck like Brown was at Collingwood if he gets Cloke.

The 2nds need to mirror the firsts. It must be a complete team with players ready to fill in when injuries get us.

Coach is much more inclined to pick players inform and with the right attitude, so it will get much harder for players Yazz, Gibbs, Garlett, Armfield, Kruezer. Failure to deliver will be dealt with harshly - When talented kids arrived at Collingwood, some seniors had cards marked - Lica, Shane Obree, to name a few.

Ratten got too close to some players and wanted to pick team he liked not teams that we needed. e.g At McLean was ready to go for a number of weeks. It may have ruined some careers, other players like Lucas appear not to have been supported to date. Look at difference at Collingwood, kids put in early and they delivered, Daisy, Sidebottom, Fasolo, Beams, Reid (honestly U18 form was average).

Our ability to pick the eyes out of the draft are about to change. Looks like some list cloggers are already going Kerr, Thornton, Russell

Should be a very interesting off season

I've seen no evidence that Lucas is an elite kick.

That's the first time I've seen Carlton footballers names in days. I thought it was all about Mick and his band of Expendables (assistants)

So we lose 7 players, elevate at least 2, then add 12 and have 6 draft picks?

Ok...

According to Jon Anderson in the Herald-Sun, Simon Black and Cameron Ling are not taking jobs as assistant coaches with us.

It's time.

Time to put the pieces together for our assault on cup 17, 18 & 19 over the next 3 years.

One will do just fine...2013 is my preference.

Just get some kids who can kick straight for goal and under pressure around the ground, and a couple of solid midfielders....dunno about Mololner, but yeah his kind of build would be a good addition.
