Really?

Unless a Burns or another legitimate heir apparent forms part of the team, I fear for our future.

So....under Ratts a Co.; we missed the Finals; and you obviously think a Triple Premiership Coach and Premiership player (with Richmond) in Malthouse is a backward step?......

I was one who knew that ratts would be moved on. Ultimately have no issue with that because we have various issues.

It is yet to be seen whether a change of coaching panel will take us to the promised land.

Reserving judgement until the full coaching panel is finalised. Jakovich concerns me though. Champion footballer that can barely string two words together. Evidenced in his many WA media roles.

Well .... it might be. Malcolm Blight had a few flags under his belt when he went to the Saints remember. I'm sure they were thinking he was
just what they needed. Regardless of where the blame lies it's fair to say it wasn't. Personally I would've been more comfortable if we'd at least
have bothered to talk to a few candidates and see what they had to offer rather than just chasing a "name".

I hope MM isn't scarred by the last period at Collingwood, and feels the need to collect a bunch of old mates to protect him from ambitious young coaches and other power bases within the club.

I'd hope he's confident enough in his record and position in the game to pull together a great group of coaches including ambitious young ones to "work as a team and do it his way"

My impression is that he might be a bit paranoid and insecure. Hopefully the club can comfort him without indulging him.

Spoke to someone today, re coaching appointment
He said he had spoken with sticks, about who to get. He recommended bomber to sticks, to which sticks replied he thought bomber was too comfortable. This someone made some calls, bomber is not on as much as people think and 1 million/ yr deal he would definetly entertain to assist with his building projects. When this person shared with sticks his findings, sticks indicated that they were already committed to MM.

On a seperate note, my source also believes Mick did begin to show signs of forgetfulness towards end of his reign at the filth.

Think he had more to share but my 2 year old made it bloodly hard to talk much more.

You'd hope that Malthouse would have supreme confidence in his ability without having to surround himself with sycophants and yes men. On the surface, self belief and confidence would seem to be the least of his deficiencies. His ego is pretty healthy I suspect.

We certainly don't want assistant coaches who aren't appointed on merit. However, what we do need at Carlton more than anything is HARDNESS: mental, physical, and tactical. Having hard men at the helm at this stage in our development is crucial, and Malthouse will undoubtedly bring this. Even though Jakovich seems like a dill one suspects he would also bring hardness.

I'm with you Aramari, lets hope that we get the very best assistants possible, not just a bunch of old mates.

Unfortunately, Malthouse would be given full reign of who he brings and works with.
That is the way it would be, with such an appointment. Will be interesting.

If this is true, it is the reason people don't like to give too much away in conversation in case it gets splashed all over a fan forum by someone hoping to get some anonymous kudos.

I heard a piece of information relative to this issue last week that I would not dream of revealing here because it was told to me in a manner that I decided deserved to be kept under my hat.

Perhaps you might have done the same.
