I can add (as its been documented on here) that Jeanie Pratt has been after Paul Roos from the middle of the year. Further, an extremely wealthy and influential Carlton supporter (not on the board) is among a few Carlton heavy weights to have gone so far as to suggest to Jeanie that she pull her $x annual donation to the club if we go down the Malthouse path. So whilst it is a done deal, there are many that are still enraged about the Ratten payout and the rush to sign Malthouse.

Once again, not everything is pretty up the top at Carlton!

I assume you are talking about Uncle Bruce, but reminded me that I noticed Fraser Brown lurking around pre-game last week and wondered where he fitted into all of this considering his (from outside perception anyway) influence about the place and his close relationship with Ratten.

Not Uncle Bruce......but not far off....

Makes you wonder who actually holds the power at our club......

Again the media cycle and ongoing hype is driving us mad. It's only 8 days since Ratten was (officially) sacked. And only 5 since his last game.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mick has already been on the front foot spending a bit of time getting to know people inside the club.

My guess is if it wasn't for finals, or the club didn't mind making an arse of itself by grabbing headlines on the eve of the finals, the announcement would have been made this week.

Leave Monday for the finals reviews and then...

TUESDAY!

The bloke doesn't want to coach us... full stop. Don't buy that sh*t about not being available this year.... but will be next year.
Couldn't come to Melbourne because of his wife.... his son has year 12 to complete next year blah blah blah.

I'm gonna put my food in it now and offend some people but i don't care.

The guy was going to be offered $1m + a season.. could have been in the vicinity of $1.5m.
For that money... you tell you wife to grin and bare it seriously. Grow some balls. Its a half arsed excuse if i've ever heard one.
Im sure he could have been away from the family for 8 months until they moved to Melbourne. I'm sure she likes the money.

You only have to listen to the guy on the Couch to know he doesn't want to coach us. He has been so negative towards Carlton for sooo long its sickening. I don't love the idea of Malthouse at 60 Yo being the coach, especially long term. But at least he comes across as having some desire to coach.

Paul Roos can stick his wishy washy attitude in his rear.

I'm disappointed some of the old chestnuts on our board cant see this.

No more meetings with Malthouse until next week. Apparently he's busy this weekend.

Roos out of the equation.

Quote:
We appreciate Mick has media commitments and as such we will not be having further discussions until next week and hope to be in a position to finalise the coaching position within the next seven days.

Channel 10 news just mentioned that the club wont confirm that Riley, Richardson and Williams have been sacked. Richardson would be a huge shock, i am sure that Swann said that our assistants were under contract and minimal changes would be made.

Thing is, you're dead wrong. Go waste your time doing a search if you want, but I first mentioned it in 2009. The Roos family had this plan for a long time and they've stuck with it. He devoted his time to footy for decades so the deal was he'd spend more time at home, at least until the boys were done with school...(do I sound like a broken record yet?) Money isn't a factor. They've done very well with the Sydney and Melbourne property market over the years and will retire comfortably.

You haven't offended me, and you're entitled to your opinion - it's just in this instance - your opinion is wrong.

I'm not sure Richardson wants to work with MM.

an ex-carlton player who used to play with us locally last year used to openly tell us jeannie was planning to pull out her support for us if we didnt get roos. not sure how true it is or how simple that statement was intended to be but thats what it was.

Anyone watching our new coach on channel 7?

I am currently reading his book and I will point out something important I have learned about him:

He loves team oriented players
Made a comment about how much respect he used to have for Marty Clark given coming over from another country and leaving friends and family to get where he was in the AFL. Till he asked to play forward as he wanted to kick heaps of goals like other players. Mick then did not see him as a team player anymore as he expects players not to seek individual glory bu do what's best for the team not themselves.

Wonder how some of our players would go ..

Thats pretty funny. An attention seeking egomaniac making judgements on players who want a bit of glory.

It is a team sport after all.. Must play as a team to get success. Team of hard workers not individual champions playing separately.

Don't share your excitement Jack, assuming you're talking Goddard.

Travis Cloke would be well worth the extra $200-300k.

Assuming you aren't talking Ben Jacobs...
