Greg Swann is on the Blue Print today, but "surprise, surprise" no hangout discussion with supporters afterwards. Probably indicative of how the admin is treating members.

Pretty obvious. You don't want half a dozen nuff-nuff supporters on there criticizing him on the season/coach's dismissal/etc. I would like to see Swanny give us something though. An insight into some developments with staff, with running the football club day-to-day, his biggest challenges, the role of the Executive, how the Strategic Plan was being honored as a living and breathing document within all departments etc etc...there's plenty of questions - a Q&A with Luca would have sufficed for the hangout. It's probably been the highlight of the year and he deserves a lot of credit for his work.

And what are his plans to build membership, improve communications and reduce debt.

Good you are not "nuff-nuff" but a battle hardened keyboard warrior who criticizes the club on a forum he does not read. :screwy:

Participants have to apply and they can easily filter any morons. Actually they could have chosen people who had appeared before to avoid a silly debate. I was "earmarked" for a discussion with Swann, so would probably been on if the hangout had been done. I assume the official line will be that Swann has other commitments ...... I see it as avoiding the hard questions.

Shouldn't it be 'discussions' not 'negotiations' with malthouse? Otherwise why bother contacting roos? Bit of an amateur comment really

Doubt that Swanny was sexy enough to have hung out any further.

Pity, although it may have largely been a repeat of the same questions he had to answer from Sellars.
Think he may have well known that.

Love Sellers' passion. Put Swann under the pump and asked the hard questions. You can tell he's bleeding over what's gone on at Carlton this year.

Shame the show's ending. Would've thought they'd keep it running, or perhaps have special episodes after the new coach is appointed, draft day, trade week etc.

Personally didn't rate the show in terms of what it was for what it could have achieved, but there's only so much that can be accomplished when you bring in professional media performers in on a shoe string budget. If the club want to stretch it out to a longer show with match highlight run throughs, press conference discussions and VFL/player updates, it would take probably an extra hour of planning and 3 or 4 hours of editing each week without much in the way of additional costs.

Of course, there will be a few people around the traps here who would be familiar with the fact that I flagged such an idea for TC in the form of a vodcast. Not going to sit here and say it was some marvellously original idea, but the fact that I'm just one guy chucking in 5 minutes of thought process and they're a professional organisation, with an office of about 5-10 involved in media and multimedia and they can come up with a half baked version of it in 2 years - well - you see where I'm going with this.

I think the solely "Talking Carlton" approach is good.

Yes, a game review with highlights would be good too, but as a first up effort I reckon The Blue Print has been first rate. It's the openness and subject matter that has been refreshing. No sweeping anything under the carpet by the club.

Not sure if any other clubs are doing anything similar, in terms of opening themselves up for criticism, so for all the faults the club does have, for this, I reckon they deserve a pat on the back and the encouragement to ensure it comes back in 2013.

Agree 100%.

Ive been surprised by the candor displayed by all concerned. I would much rather 15 minutes of good discussion with some Carlton luminaries past and present than a longer show with fluff and puff pieces about Gibbs' hair or what Robbo has for breakfast.

It's good they haven't tried to hard to control the message.

Love the program. Just wish it was 30 min minimum.

I don't mean a match review, I meant throwing highlight clips as they're speaking, to highlight what they're talking about. :P

Mostly I'd be looking for updates on players outside the senior team, progress reports and such. We've gone from having good VFL coverage previous years (mostly through forum submissions across the three major Carlton forums), to a goal highlights reel without sound.

It's uninformative, it's frustrating for those who cannot make these games regularly and it keeps us in the dark about the club's overall level of progress. How is that engaging members at the level required?
