That's a bit dramatic. Look, Richmond are still here......

Gone, because we are going to waste more years with our current players as they will be older. Judd, Simmo, Waite gone. Also money wise, if Malthouse does not work out, are we going to pay him out early as well ? $1M a year is a lot of money.

How long can we rely on others to pay up for our mistakes, Pagan, now Ratten ?

Look I agree with Ratten going, but I dont agree that we try and buy ourselves out of trouble. I dont know I still have visions of Pagan. Got my hopes up then too.

I was at the game yesterday, and saw a Rabble, Its hard to be enthused about missing out of finals and us again having to sack our coach.

Players playing like they dont give a toss..........

We have gone nowhere.

But I am sure I will be excited and hopefull again, until we start again next year.

In order to compensate MM for lost book sales, next years membership will include a copy of his book.

Hated Lloyd as a player but not much better kick in the AFL for goal - given we have lost about 5 matches this season from poor conversion rate why wouldnt you seek him out

As for Pricky everyone knows he is a first class B--- it will always be about him - just need to look at PF in 2011 when he cried in the box -it was because he thought they were not going to make the GF after dominating for most of the year and his legacy would have been tarnished- having said that I dont care what his motivation is as long as he delivers us the top prize - Its a risk no doubt but a calculated one and no guarantees getting the Pricky

Yeah, it was the poor kicking and horrific attitude. It got me thinking that going all out for a flag next year might actually be a bad idea. I'm not joking.

We've been "spinning wheels" on and off-field for a while now (see Sticks - The Grand illusion thread). This Malthouse appointment has been in the works for months. I'm not enamored with the playing group, but they need belief. It's all in the head. The talent is there. If he has the cattle at his disposal - MM has a terrific track record of getting the playing group and assistant coaches and football department staff all on the same page. It's his page and it's very much the 'We work as a team, and we do it MY way' adage, but it's had success.

Ratts didn't have the playing group on his page for much of the year. But, it's a footy club - there's a lot of personalities, there's no guarantee Mick's way is going to suit everyone. Just ask Brad Hardie.

Yes, it will be interesting.

Understand that Malthouse has some stipulations that we may have to meet in terms of his wish & hit lists.
Certainly won't be boring for the next couple of months and expect the unexpected.

Feel genuinely sorry for Ratts - but as a neutral supporter it's very exciting. Especially if Cloke crosses over too. First Blues v Pies clash next year - standing room only. And if MM and Cloke lead the Blues to a flag Eddie's head will EXPLODE!

If the AFL were smart, they would schedule Collingwood v Carlton for Round 1, opening game.

No footy for several months, possibly Malthouse and Cloke at the arch enemy.

100,000 very likely.

Pat Smith reckons that nothing will be done this week on the coaching front as he says there is no rush, we want Malthouse and he wants us. Apparently we are finalising exit interviews at the moment etc.

How can we be exiting people when the coach has to have a say surely.

Or is this part of our incompetence. Hope we dont give in the Malthouses guidelines of waiting till October.

The process this year is so important. ie trading and drafting is imperative to next year for us, and we cannot get it wrong.

Mick will be at the club, but Cloke will remain a Pie.

..am thinking what is being said publicly is miles off what is happening [and has already been organised] behind closed doors..

True, but I feel sorry for someone like Mclean having to wait till a coach is in place, to find out what is happening to his future. He has done the right thing this year, and he cannot really go ahead and plan for his future without knowing if he has a job or not......

One assumes if he's coming, Malthouse has told us who to exit and who to keep. He doesn't need to have signed the paperwork to give his thoughts/instructions on that front.

I think BKB is right - what we see and what is actually happening is (better be) miles apart.

He can if he wants too, he can walk out and find another club if he likes.
We were patient with him and if we look at the money we invested and the return we got, half a season of good footy was not enough.
He can wait.

..unless he already knows [golden handshake].. ..personally i think he does, otherwise we'd have articles linking him to other clubs, quotes from his manager etc etc.. ..i think to make signings and delistings public too soon will shine the torch on bigger decisions having been made a while back.. ..i think there's a 'vibe' that we need to appear as if our sacking of ratts is separate to our signing of Malty..
