I'd field offers for Judd.

I like the idea of carrots. Classic captaincy material.

But every time I've heard MM speak about our players, he always seems to reserve a good comment for Simmo. I think it's because he impressed him when he coached Oz in the Ireland series.

I'd be happy with Simmo or Carrots. Would probably prefer someone younger, but all our younger guys play like a bunch of fairies, and choose when they go. And the one that doesn't is Robbo.

But shit, it'd almost be worth making Robbo captain just to see the annual 'Captains photo' that the AFL gets done every year

F*** it, let's make Robbo captain.

Not the worst idea ever... love to see the players take some ownership for this shit season

I may be wrong but I think CK95 was joking as that's what happened last year, and look what that did!

I can't actually recall that from last year...I honestly thought I was onto a good plan

Shows how far my ideas will get us

The article is good, until you get to the candidates. Who in their right mind would elect Michael Jamison to be Captain? I'd give it to Murph with Simmo as his deputy. Just have Judd in the leadership group...which I would limit to 5. Murphy, Simpson, Judd, Carrazzo and Scotland.

I don't think Murphy has the maturity as a person (as opposed to footballer) to take this on.

Carrots would be my selection.

Watching the Blueprint, they showed footage of Murphy calling the players together after the game to give them a rev-up/blast.
AFAIC, he's already our leader. Carrots as deputy and Mitch as part of the leadership group. As Wallsy said, we need more extroverts.

After seeing Murphy last night on the footy show he's not even close to be a captain ( well off field at least ).
He was timid, tongue tied, needed support and unsure of the questions directed to him.
Doesn't come across as a confident speacker especially under pressure.

By the way if and when Mick gets in that leading teams program will be one of the first things out the door. Mick is not a fan.

Totally agree. Looks like a lil kid in front of the school principal when Sam was asking him questions. I'm not a fan of Murphy as Captain. Looks too much like a lil boy from a boy band singing with one direction or something.

I think Carrazzo / Simmo are still ahead of him, but nearing the end of their careers. I see no reason to change Judd as Captain. If Gibbsy can finally have a break out year in the midfield and take the softness side out of his game, then l think Gibbsy would be a stronger leader of the young brigade. I still remember when he was 17 and just come to the club, Fevola did something stupid off field and he got up in a meeting and said 'i dont have time for this S#hit', then walked out. He went straight into the leadership group in his first year, because he is a leader.

To me, I don't get the whole sharing of captaincy anyway. If you have to share, then you aren't a capable captain at the club. There are vice captains. If required, wouldnt the captain just delegate media appearances and other tasks to the VC to conduct?

Only teams that have to share a captaincy out there are the crap teams down the bottom of ladder with no true leader with a lot of young talent eg. Melbourne.

Sharing captaincy is disrespectful to Judd. Judd should step aside if there is no confidence in him or share some responsibilities with a VC. Right now, changing captains would be for the sake of change, thinking that by changing something, it will improve things. If it isn't broke, why fix it. Slightly modify some things if required.

I Am Captain, I am Captain too. - Next years slogan lol.

Simmo for mine.

He has the maturity and seems to have the players too.

Murphy next.

Yes, Smurf is a little timid in front of the camera... but that's due to him not seeing it all too often imo

Although the likes if Carrots and Simmo seem better options atm, I believe Murphy is the right age and can grow into the role both on and off field.

...but I'd only switch skippers with the blessing of the playing group.

Why do you say that Doc? Listening to the Carlton Podcasts and seeing him on TV as a guest on shows gives me the impression that he is intelligent and has natural leadership qualities. He is also at the experience level you want your captain to be at.

Jamo and Carrots would be my first two candidates for the captaincy should Judd not have it. I think Murph is more suited to being in a leadership group instead. Same for Simmo.
